Animal Ailments is currently just a prototype!
So far, all of our games have been lovingly made at home in Bristol (UK) - mainly using a home printer, laminator and paper cutter.
In 2017, we made over two hundred of these prototype games for testing at games fairs and to sell at the Christmas market!
With your support, we will be able to create the first large scale, retail quality print run of Animal Ailments! 1000 brand new shiny games to send out to homes all across the world.
We have already arranged a JAPANESE translation of the game and rules and we have plans to hit up a games expo in Japan. Watch out Tokyo!
We have also lined up the fantastic Inkration Studios to carry out a graphic design refresh of the game box, logo, rules etc. if we reach our stretch goal!

Father Geek: Review
"As expected, the Child Geeks enjoyed themselves, finding the game to be fun, challenging, and hilarious. According to one Child Geek, “I couldn’t stop laughing and it was my turn to mime the animals. I didn’t get any points on that turn.”
"The game was well received by those Parent Geeks who enjoy party games, but often found game of that type to be less than competitive. Not the case with Animal Ailments. As one Parent Geek put it, “This is a game you really need to pay close attention to and be attentive. I you don’t, you’ll never gain any points."

Non Stop Tabletop: Reviews
"This had my entire family from my 10-year old daughter to my mother rolling with laughter."
"The best part about this game is the variety. There are optional rules to suit everyone. Playing with young kids? Remove the 12+ cards. Non-competitive relatives? Play the no-points option? Girls Night In? Play the drinking game version!"
Gateway Game Score: 10/10
Game Rating 8/10

Goblin Gazette: Review
"In my opinion, there are two types of gamers/game nights: there are intense, serious, play by the rules gamers and then there’s fun, chill, and not so strict gamers. This game is for the latter group. This game is perfect for a party with lots of people and an especially good choice for a mixed-age party!"

We gave 10 copies of our handmade games to Imagination Gaming. It's to play in schools as far afield as Cyprus.
We have also been nominated for the Imagination Gaming annual awards.
In our journey to get Animal Ailments far into the wild, we have run dedicated gaming stalls at two high profile gaming events in 2017:
- UK Games Expo - The largest games fair in the UK
- Essen SPIEL (Germany) - The largest games fair in the world!
Each event ran for several days and gave us an opportunity to thoroughly play test our game with hundreds of keen customers, from families with young children to hardcore gamers.
Animal Ailments @ UK Games Expo (June 2017)
This game was incredibly popular with attendees! We were kept extremely busy, with our gaming areas often full to capacity - a bit like a creche at times! ;)

At these events we sold out of all the home made games we brought along with us (including all of our German translations for Essen Fair!).
£1 from all our game sales in 2017 were donated to Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary in Bristol to help real animals with ailments!
We have enjoyed an amazing level of engagement from friendly games folk at the fairs. A great sign of the popularity and potential of Animal Ailments!
A few words from Alex the designer:
"The ludicrous combinations that come up when you play this game always fills the room with laughter – and I always think, as people genuinely seem to love this, why not keep developing it?
It has been an incredibly rewarding game to develop. It has turned me into a true Animal Ailments addict and pushed me to get the game in front of you all on Kickstarter!"

We are offering US, Australia, Europe & UK friendly shipping all handled by our partners Gamesquest.
Shipping to areas outside of these may result in additional import tax, but the game is fairly light, small and not of high monetary value - which means for many countries this will not be an issue.

Risks and challenges
Shipping and fulfillment is the most stressful and highest risk part of this campaign. We also need to do some final finishing touches to the box and rules and get it all finalised for printing.
I've dedicated many hours to communicating with and gathering quotes from game manufacturers, making business contacts and negotiating prices so that we are ready to push the button on the print run as soon as possible once this campaign finishes.
I've stated September 2018 as the delivery date for the games. That should leave plenty of leeway, and in reality we are really hoping to get the games way sooner than this! We are working with GamesQuest who come highly recommend for games fulfillment and shipping.
Ideally we will have new stock ready to sell at games fairs and festivals over the summer. However, there is always a risk of unexpected developments with production and international shipping.
I have a background in business, having previously worked in high pressure management consulting jobs. These experiences and skills should help me to manage this project and make sure none of my backers will be disappointed.
More than anything though I have a strong desire and deep passion for this game and to distribute it as widely as possible, for the cheapest possible price I could negotiate.
If all goes well (fingers crossed) we can continue to provide you games with the same level of enjoyment, quality, and humor as Animal Ailments!
