I got a bit ahead of myself and started colorizing some of the map icons that will be produced if Stretch Goal #2 is achieved, because I wanted to see how they'd look, and to check if they would work well with the Hex March Add-Ons in particular.

Here's a preview image I put together. You should click on it to view it at full size.

I added various filter effects in the preview pic that you could optionally add in MapForge to make the icons stand out more, or to achieve a particular feel/style. You could also make the symbols render in greyscale, sepia-toned, or whatever you prefer.

The original uncolored icons will also be included in the free Add-On, and you'll be able to use colorizing effects on them (for example, to have them drawn with white ink rather than black, by applying a white inner glow effect). 

Place-name labels could be added to your maps in post-processing, using your image editor of choice (at least until MapForge gets a built-in text label tool).

For additional variety, I plan on offering two color variants for each asset. So castles, for example, would have a grey version and a tan version (which works better in arid/desert environments, in my opinion). It's twice the work for me, but well worth it for the increased versatility.

As you can also see in the image above, I've got the first part of Hex March 1 already converted to MapForge Add-On format, so I have a great shot at early delivery of the rewards.

      My first experience with the software, and I find it awesome. The addon sets and new stretch art are amazing. I can't wait to update my world map!

      I agree, the sample looks great. The filters and two color variants should be great, really hoping we can get there. I had been wondering about the text labels, so thanks for mentioning that as well.

      Everything I haveseen looks better than the program I am currently using. I’m really looking forward to getting this.

      The samples look great. I was hoping something like this would be added and now I hope we reach the stretch goal :)
