Crios is a fantasy campaign setting that mashes the fantasy genre with that of Earth's First World War. This will be a complete RPG based on the Renaissance Deluxe setting published by Cakebread & Walton. The Renaissance Deluxe system is a set of role-playing rules using the D100-based system first introduced in their Clockwork & Chivalry 2nd Edition.
Crios features slick, cinematic game mechanics based on the acclaimed Renaissance D100 system, and is compatible with other D100 system games.
Crios is a tabletop role-playing game of a world at war. Together with a group of friends, you take on the role of soldiers, spies, priests or wielders of arcane magic. You can be an Elf, Dwarf, Goblin, Halfling, Human or maybe come from a line where there is a dragon secretly in your bloodline.
When the King of the Dwarven nation of Tharos suddenly dies without an heir. This is when the neighboring Goblin nation of Qual sees its opportunity to control the land it has coveted for years, an action which the other countries surrounding Tharos cannot, by treaty, tolerate. As nation after nation declares war, a chain of treaties are invoked, ultimately bringing almost all of Crios into a war of unprecedented destructiveness.
The world is a traditional fantasy world, only after an event known as the "god wars" magic has become unstable. In the years since the God Wars, magic has steadily waned and become unstable, giving rise in its place an industrial revolution and technologies that now do what magic once did, and at a cheaper cost. To the point where only a few foolish (or brave) enough to try to channel the power still practice it. Magic is chaotic in nature at the very best, dangerous and life taking at the worst, so only a few still practice it. To make up for the deficit of magic in their lives, the races started developing technologies (mostly the dwarves). Now the world is involved in a massive world war, using all the technology at their disposal...and maybe even a wizard or two. The pilot of the above picture is an elf, as they make natural pilots and have done a lot with the creation of the airplane. This world has all you expect from a fantasy, plus zeppelins, airplanes and machine guns.
Crios is a Renaissance Deluxe role playing game developed by the ENnie Award winning publisher, Battlefield Press, Inc. and written by the team of Craig Parent and Jonathan M. Thompson. The art is done by notable award winning artists, Brent Chumley and Joel Biske and a host of others.
