The Battleaxe Band is Amy Buckingham on fiddle and guitar, Brooke Lauer on banjo, fiddle, and foot percussion, Lucy Allen on guitar, and Nancy Hamilton on bass. The Battleaxes are best known for hard-driving old-time tunes and songs with powerful vocal harmonies, as well as folk, gospel, Americana, blues and original songs. We’ve been playing music together since 2008, for dances, concerts, farmers markets, and other events. We’ve made lots of friends along the way and we’re ready to make an album for all to enjoy.
Our goal is to raise $5000 to cover recording, mixing, mastering, CD replication and packaging costs, as well as travel expenses, reward shipping costs, copyright fees and Kickstarter fees.
We are scheduled to record the CD at Coyote Ridge Audio, in Mills River, NC in mid-October, then we will have it mixed and mastered by mid-November, and send it off for replication in late November/early December. The plan is to have a disc in your hands by Christmas 2015!
If we can raise more than $5000, we would like to use the additional funds to make an even more amazing and beautiful CD package, including an insert with lyrics. Other possibilities are upgrading our website and printing stickers for your instrument case, journal, or car bumper.
There are many great rewards to choose from ranging from $1 song downloads to a concert in your living room or backyard. Check out all we have to offer!
Risks and challenges
If we can get this project funded, the biggest possible problem might be a delay in the production cycle, making the release time later than proposed.
We have been planning this for awhile so we already have studio time booked, art for the CD packaging in hand, and we have been polishing up our favorite tunes.
While we all have full-time jobs outside of the band, we know how to get together on a schedule. We are all committed to making this CD happen. If we run into any delays we'll keep everyone updated.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
