Nope! It's actually the only zapper game that I can think of where it's not necessary. Any portions involving shooting the screen are easter eggs and can be simulated with a button press for those with LCDs. A word of warning, it may be difficult to balance a cowboy hat on top of a flat screen.
I've gotten a lot of questions about a version of the game for PAL consoles, I put in some time this weekend with the project and I'm happy to say that both an NTSC and PAL version of the game will be available if the project is funded. The reward tiers will remain the same and you'll receive a backer survey to select which version you would like!
That depends! I don't want to endorse any particular model since the hardware could be completely different on two identical looking units, but I've run the game on a few of these systems with success.
I can say that for some research I purchased a clone system with an aftermarket zapper on Amazon and ended up with a working setup for <$20 prime shipping. If you don't have an NES and still are interested in the game then contact me and I can try to make some recommendations!
