You'll find more info below!
Bargain Quest is a lighthearted and fun, risk vs reward game full to bursting with interesting decisions. With over a hundred different item cards to choose from and a huge variety of heroes, monsters, and employees, no two rounds will ever be the same.
The goal of the game is simple: help the heroes save your town while making more money than your rival shops!
You’ll start each round by drafting item cards to stock your store shelves. Then, you'll decide which of those items you want to place on Display. These items will determine the sort of hero you can attract and which shop gets to choose first among the available heroes! Select your displays carefully, because items in your window are for display only and cannot be sold!
Each hero has different tastes, while a Mage might want magic scrolls and pointy hats, a Rogue might prefer leather coats and knives. Fighters and Clerics meanwhile both love heavy armor! You'll need to draft carefully to be sure that you have just the right items for the hero that enters your shop!
Sell equipment to your hero so that they'll be ready to battle with the current monster! If your hero is successful, you earn STARS, which are worth points at the end of the game! You can think of them like positive Yelp ratings.
But in every round that the heroes fail to defeat the monster it attacks the town, stealing your money or damaging your store! Each of the game's 12 different monsters have unique abilities!
Over time you’ll encounter new heroes and monsters, all while upgrading your shop and hiring employees with unique abilities. Once three monsters have been defeated, the town is saved and the shop with the most money and prestige wins the game!
Hopefully that’ll be you.
If you'd like to learn more about the game play, you can find a PDF of the rule book here or by clicking the link above! You can also watch Shut Up and Sit Down's review which gives a lovely overview of the game!
You can also watch the stream we did with Penny Arcade where we play a full game ofBargain Questusing the Advanced 2-player variant! (The video is quite long but that's mostly because we were goofing around. An average game takes between 30-60 minutes.)

The Black Market Expansion brings Bargain Quest to the seedy criminal underworld. With new heroes like the Shaman, and the Bravo, along with cunning employees like the Loan Shark and the Henchman. It's a dangerous town, and you'll have to use all of your cunning and wits if you mean to make a profit out here!
Most importantly however, this expansion introduces a new Upgrade to Bargain Quest: TheBlack Market Upgrade
This Upgrade functions similarly like the Display and Storage Upgrades in the original game, however the cost to gain this upgrade is not coins, but *stars* which means you'll need to spend your hard earned reputation before you'll be able to make the connections you'll need to access the Black Market Deck!
During the Supply Step, a player with the Black Market Upgrade gains cards from the Black Market Deck, which contains a variety of strange and powerful artifacts!
The Black Market can be a bit unpredictable. Its items range from the incredibly powerful, to the expensive, but useless, to the outright weird. You'll want to keep the best equipment you find for yourself, and leave your opponents with less favorable options. Play your cards right and you'll be the next Capitalist Kingpin.
We'll reveal more of the Black Market's secrets in future updates so stay tuned!
For this project we have decided not to include any Stretch Goals. We've very carefully designed and tested exactly the product that we'd like to produce and we feel it would be an unnecessary risk to artificially lock these features behind arbitrary funding goals.
That being said, we do have a number of bonus packs that we've made with the help of some incredibly cool friends and collaborators.
We'll be doing timed reveals for these packs as the campaign progresses,
The first pack: The Table Titans Pack has been revealed as of Campaign Funding! Featuring characters from the hit webcomic series.
The second pack has now been revealed as the 8-Bit Theater Pack! Featuring the iconic heroes and items from the classic webcomic by Brian Clevinger!
Finally in our final week, the third pack: Acquisitions Incorporated has been revealed! Featuring characters, and items from Penny Arcade's amazing world.
These packs are not stretch goals as they are guaranteed to be available once the campaign is funded. However we'd like to reveal them over time so that they can each get the attention they deserve as we've worked very hard to make each pack unique and exciting.
These packs are available at the Deluxe and Just the New Stuff pledge tiers and will also be available individually as addons. Each pack contains 12 brand new cards featuring new heroes, items, and employees!
The Golem is a unique promo hero that's a FREE bonus to all backers! You can find out more info here.
