Building your home.

Your home can be really important in Balrum. If you have a home people can visit you and even leave a quest or a note. If you sleep in your own bed you will gain various buffs for sleeping well. We give you total freedom in building your home. The only restriction is where you can build. This is not a real restriction because you will be able to build at hundreds of locations. You can build your farm right next to your home. Cooking, alchemy, creating weapons/armor and other skills will require special objects like crafting tables. You can build these „tables” right in your home.

      Awesome video. Do you intend to have it so we can build houses to be multiple stories? It'd also probably require there to be roofs obviously :)

      i like Stefan V and wampatans ideas about making aditions relevant and expansion beyond just a house, perhaps being able to create gardens/small plantations to provide home grown food/buffs, also those would require fencing/wire to avoid being spoiled/stolen/trampled.

      maybe a communial building/refuge for other npc's that you could recruit/attract to your land while on your travels, they could help stave off enemy opponents, protect your food etc, or just plain make your home area look active with people wandering around.

      tbh theres quite some promise and potential depending on how far the "home" idea gets pushed.

      It would be nice if you could sell the house and an npc relevant to the interior (forge/blacksmith) could move in. Then you could start your own village. :-)

      I would suggest that as many items as possible be functional rather than decorative.For example cabinets, cupboards and chests increase storage space. Beds, chairs and the like provide rest bonuses. Even placing something as mundane a vase of flowers can be beneficial if you are creative enough :)

      The point of all this would be create tangible benefits from vanity items that are normally superficial and provide nothing to the gameplay.

      Hi there Pete! Good ideas! We are looking for ideas regarding housing. What you want is kind of what we would like to do. As we mentioned there are a huge number of locations where you can build and a large number of these locations are in dangerous places. If you build your home in a dangerous place there is a chance that monsters will gather around your home and even ruin your farm. Damaging your home is not in the game at the moment but this can change ;)

      nice, i wonder if a future feature would be animal/wildlife/enemies near your home, if your homes not secure perhaps your home could get broken into and made a mess of, maybe even damaged.

      it could bring a further feature to the need for a home, ie making a fence/barriers of some type, you mention sleeping/aqiring buffs, maybe the buffs u get from sleep can be reduced/changed if your home is not secure and your being interupted in your sleep.

      either way this looks quite promising, reminds me a little of "Project Zomboid".
