About

London, England was (arguably) the center of the Evil Doctoring world in the late 1800's, so that's where you're headed. In "What's He Building In There?," The challenge is to build your Doomsday Machine. The problem is that Scotland Yard is on your trail, so you only have a limited number of rounds to finish both your Doomsday Machine and your Escape Plan.

This game has the engine of a euro driving a fun theme. Once your minimum stages of your doomsday machine and escape plan are met, players must decide whether to further trick out their dirigible or develop waterproof gunpowder. The crux of this game is managing your actions to maximize your plan, get away clean and (most importantly), do it with style. You'll place your doctor and your henchmen on shop cards that cycle from turn to turn to gather or refine resources. The black market spaces let you get hold of those things you need but at a higher price. There are tracks to advance your social standing, security, and what mad genius doesn't have an exotic pet or two?

There are no dice in this worker-placement style game, but the shops and black market cards are shuffled and rotated each turn to give variation. The direct-effect inventions give their inventor a personal ability to either move their own plans along, mess with someone else, or both.

It takes about half an hour per player to play the game, and players quickly get the hang of the intuitive rules and the gameplay flows smoothly. The game scales very well from the two-player game all the way up to six players.

For a tiny company like Baksha Games, the first edition of WHBiT? was a colossal success. There are some tweaks that we're doing to the art that will make it even better. The biggest change is the resource cards. We were told time and again that the art was too similar for the raw versus refined resource cards. (I knew this myself but someone talked me out of it for the first edition...) Here's a peek at the proposed type of change.

We have decided not to do any stretch goals for this project. We believe that all of the extra-cool wooden pieces and all other considerations should be included already. We're even going to include a set of 3 promotional cards.

Congratulations! You've just completed your Evil Doctorate! Now you've moved back to the small eastern European town where you grew up to start your revenge and build your first Monster.

You have to appear to be an upstanding member of society, so you have to hire some assistants to do your dirty work. Going and getting body parts, for example. The problem is that as you're just starting out and can't pay them very much, so your assistants aren't very reliable.

Once you finally get them to bring a brain, a torso, a set of limbs, and some supplies back to your castle, you can pay off your assistants and assemble your Monster. Then you send the Monster to town to destroy the buildings that you have been using. If you can destroy enough of them, you will win the game. If there are too many Monsters and not enough buildings for that, however, the Monsters will fight to the death to determine who wins!

This is a 2 - 6 player game, for ages 12 and up, taking 30-90 minutes to play depending on the number of players. It's an action-based game, where each player chooses one action for each of their three characters each turn.

This is the first game in the Evil Doctor Trilogy. (What's He Building in There? is the second!)

The Moonsplitter expansion will consist of six new Doomsday Machines (including aforementioned Moonsplitter,) and five new Escape Plans. The twist on a couple of them is that, like the Moonsplitter, some may only consist of a Stage 3. Or like the Giant Mechanical Spider Escape Plan, only Stage 2 or 3 will exist. MWAhahahahahahahaahhaaaaa!

Risks and challenges

We have been around since 2010 and produced many products, and have successfully fulfilled four Kickstarter projects. Not only have we done that, but one of those was the first version of this game! There are a few piece-of-cake art updates to be done, and we'll use the same printer as the first edition, so this should be pretty smooth.
