The Baer Bench
In the summer of 2018, there will be a new attraction in Manchester and we need your help to build it. That's what Kickstarter is all about - collecting as a community to bring creative projects to life.
We are building a commemorative bench on the Riverwalk in the Millyard for the “Father of the Video Game”, Ralph Baer.
Ralph’s passion for Manchester and advancing technology lives beyond his years in the development of our city and his story should be displayed to inspire others. Let's build a place to celebrate that and the future of our city together.
A small brick square nestled on the river walk featuring a bench and the likeness of Ralph Baer sitting with his signature brown box.
Baer's son, Mark is working with the Hitchcock family and John Clayton of the Manchester Historical Association to execute the project. The group is currently raising funding to support the venture in addition to the $10,000 raised here which will cover the expense of the new bricks and foundation on site.

Risks and challenges
This project requires full cooperation from the city to achieve completion. We ask for the support of our elected leaders to promote placemaking and arts in our city and pledge to put a future maintenance fund in place.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
