BAD DREAMS is an illustrated fantasy adventure published as a series of online comics through Graphicly earlier this year. It chronicles the adventures of an odd group of dreamworld characters: Mary, Nimrod, Sir Spanks (a Night Mouse Knight), Spide and Shroom. Mary wakes to discover both her memory and 'Night Time' are missing. Mother Night's absence causes havoc as everyone slowly loses their mind from lack of sleep. As a result they must work together to uncover the strange secret of their past and exactly who and what's behind it all...
Creator Gary Winnick spent the better part of three years, nights and weekends, developing over 150 pages of lavish color images. "It's time to get back to my comic book roots and get this printed for real so you can actually hold it, read it, smell and taste its' shiny candy-like pages." If we raise our goal you can look forward to a high quality limited edition book of the collected series. Additionally, we'll include concept art, page layouts and other special features. We'd like to prove we can produce this volume and in turn continue development on a number of visually compelling graphic stories. Check out projects in development at garyart.net for a sampling.

And there's more surprise stretch goals that will be revealed as we go! Here's a few clues...
$150k- It has something to do with games...
$250k- It has something to do with music...
$500k- It has something to do with animation...
Why are we here? What's life really about? Will you ever be happy? I really can't answer any of those questions, but I do know that there's more going on in this world than meets the eye. This is a chance for us to get back to our personal creative roots. You know when you were back in grade school, (maybe you're still there now...) and you had that amazing epiphany about your creative potential; maybe you wanted to build a functional robot out of cardboard boxes, or a rocket to the moon out of that old refrigerator sitting in the dump (stay the heck away from that bucket of tetanus!).
Maybe you wanted to write and draw your own comic books... I did and still do, and with your help I promise to bring you on a mystical adventure through the corridors of our imaginations. I'm truly passionate about this work and wouldn't pitch it if I didn't have full confidence in it's potential. If we're successful in raising our goal, it will open the door not just for Bad Dreams, but a number of future projects we have waiting in the wings. Check some of these out at my garyart.net site. Thank you for your contribution and I won't forget your help. Remember, it's the audience of like-minded individuals that matters, not the financial whims of monolithic media conglomerates.
I'd also like to give a special "Thank you!! texted a million times!!" to Ricki Lee Stautz, without whose boundless energy, dedication, hard work and creative heart this project would not be possible. I'd also like to thank the other invaluable member of our team Jeff Hulter. Additional thanks go out to Moreah Walker, Brandon Kahl, Sherry Land, Mark Land, Nick Sobrack-Seaton, Tom Adams, Mike Zwerling, Greg Rossi and The Satellite Inc.
(Go to our YouTube channel to see some of these folks star in production films. There are also trailers, teasers, and concept videos to laugh at and be awed by. Or both).
Risks and challenges
The book has now been completely drawn, so our main challenge is the associated production and delivery of printed/finished goods. I have a professional history of dealing with production, and our vendors have already been carefully chosen based on budget, schedule, and location. Additionally, I have a reliable team of collaborators ready to step in as needed to assist in all phases of production and product fulfillment.
Certainly, any project that requires quality printing, also requires ongoing quality control & oversight. Monitoring and maintaining consistency across a range of merchandise is something that requires multiple sets of eyes to assure the best overall product(s). Our team is committed to making sure our sponsors receive the finest goods at a reasonable cost. We are so grateful for our our friends and followers, that we will keep an updated dialogue throughout the process of post-funding production regarding status of books, goods, and our elation.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
