An honest assessment of our chances
It has been a very exciting, yet challenging few weeks for us at BackSpindle Games.
Our campaign began by attracting over $25,000 in just over 24 hours. The next few days saw that figure rise to over $33,000, with 350 backers moving us within $6,000 of our funding target.
Then we seemed to slip into a strange sort of time loop. Our backers grew each day, but the overall percentage pledged did not seem to move. To date almost 600 backers have pledged for MourneQuest since the campaign began, including over 230 new backers in the last 10 days.
The problem has been that for every new backer we gained, we then lost an existing backer. The overall effect of this was that it appeared we were gaining no new interest or backers, so other backers then became disillusioned.
Realistically at this point we feel it is impossible for us to predict if we can reach our goal by the closing date. We appreciate every one of you who have pledged support and stayed with us, hoping we can bring MourneQuest to the table, but we feel it would be wrong of us to continue to shout “C’mon, we can do this!” when the facts are we simply do not know if we can.
With that in mind we regretfully, have decided to cancel the Campaign for now. We apologise for having to do so.
This week we received very positive comments from hobby industry leaders about MourneQuest, the minis, the theme and how the game plays. This has inspired us to make sure when we relaunch everything should be right at the top in terms of what we deliver as a great game and strong video reviews supporting it.
In addition, during the campaign we received lots of very useful feedback from you the current backers, and those backers that chose to cancel yet were good enough to let us know their reasons. Reasons often outside of our control.
Going forward our aim is to take on board your comments, improve our offer to everyone, then relaunch in early May with a new, leaner, meaner, faster, MourneQuest Kickstarter campaign.
As with all our previous products, we plan to deliver a quality game and on-time.
We will keep everyone informed of the launch date via Kickstarter updates, our social channels, website and newsletter.
Thank you again for standing by us to try to make this happen.
See you in May!
Leo & David
