About this project
Azogames: the story so far
Earlier this year a friend acquired a laser engraver for his business, and offered to let me use it for a weekend or two to experiment and make some gaming items. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! I spent all of my free time that week designing tokens, turn trackers, and other odds and ends to make. The members of my gaming group and I covered the cost of materials, and by our next meeting I had a big box of goodies to give out.
Since then my tokens and other items have been seen at a number of local events. I've had many positive comments and requests to make more, but without my own equipment I can't meet the demand for what I've already designed, or bring new ideas to life - and I have a lot of new ideas!
As summer approached I began to seriously research what it would take to purchase my own equipment and set up a small shop so that I can continue to produce accessories for the games we love to play. I am finally ready to put the project out there and ask for help with the next step. I'm very excited about the possibilities that lay ahead!
How your support will help:
A quality laser engraver is a marvel to work with and offers a wealth of creative opportunity, but the technology is expensive! Funding this project will not only allow me to share the great designs I already have with the backer community, it will also enable me to continue to create and share new designs in the future.

How the funding will be used:
60% - Shop setup: This includes the laser equipment itself (which will cost more than $15,000) plus the dedicated computer, software, and exhaust systems required to run it.
The remaining 40% will cover raw materials, reward shipping, and manufacturing costs.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge that I expect to face is the production schedule. With a variety of rewards for various pledge levels and a variety of add-on options it will require careful bookkeeping and planning to make sure that everyone receives rewards on-time.
To help solve this problem I will be using BackerKit, an excellent resource for managing Kickstarter rewards. BackerKit will make it easier both for myself and backers to enter shipping information, choose rewards and add-ons, and communicate.
I have done production time studies during the prototyping phase of the project and have very good estimates for how much time I will need. In addition I am building in extra time in the case of overfunding or supplier delays.
I will need a lot of raw materials to make the rewards themselves, and plan to order most if not all of them even before the equipment is installed so that once I am up and running I will be able to get to work right away.
I know that I will need to spend a week or so getting my equipment set up correctly, and I have built in some time for that as well.
Making all of the rewards myself means I will have the flexibility to put in extra time where needed, but it also means that I'm responsible for solving any problems that come up. The vast majority of manufacturing problems have already been addressed during the prototyping phase of the project. I hope that I have built in enough extra time to address any additional issues that come up during full-scale production, and of course backers will receive updates during each phase of fulfillment.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
