We're recording a New EP! We've worked countless hours writing and brainstorming concepts for our new material over the past year. 2 weeks ago we entered the studio to begin tracking. We were all excited to hear it come together, but after laying down the main instrument parts everyone is now 10x more excited! We've got a lot of work and hoping ahead of us, but it appears that we'll come out with a record that sounds better than anything we've ever done and one that contains more matured songwriting. We want you to know that we'll put everything you contribute to great use to make the best EP we know how to make!
Contributions will go towards:
-Additional Recording Costs (String players, Rentals, etc)
-Mastering the EP
-Getting the EP placed on iTunes, Amazon etc
-Planning and Promotion (I know some of you might be thinking boo, but this key aspect helps get the word out and that allows us to keep doing what we do and improve it) We have some very talented people who are going to be working with us. They love business as much as we love music, but they still have to pay their rent.
-Music Video: We really want to film at least one music video for our New EP. Any excess funds will go towards making that happen. (Average cost for 1 video shot/edited by someone who's cutting you a slick deal $600-$800) We've recently made contact with 2 very talented video people who'd like to work with us. Both of their track records include big name artists, but they'll be a bit more than the DIY $600-$800 range.
In basic we've made contacts with people that can plan and execute a proper release of our new music! But we don't have even the smallest amount of money to get started. This is our chance to make music a long-term thing for everyone in our band and with your support, we can make it happen!
More about the EP:
Have you ever heard someone say this is the right song for right now? We'll that's what this EP is to us. These are the songs we needed to hear, so we wrote them. They are epic, ambient and rely more on the vocals than our previous albums . We wrote the songs by taking some cues from earlier tracks like "The Dawn", "Harbor Lights" and "Red". We planned a lot for the recording, but we were prepared for unexpected things as well. Of course we wrote a new song in under a week before entering the studio. It was a unanimous vote to record it. So after hearing the demo for about a day we tracked bass and drums for it. Part of Rock-n-Roll is going with your instincts and that's what we're trying to do on this recording. In addition to our rock-band sounds and synths we'll be fortunate to have timpani, cello, violin and a really nice set of bells on this ep. We've gained access to some local churches for background vocals/other things and we'll be utilizing an old clock tower for reverb as well!! Very soon we will be posting tons of great videos for you exclusively, if you contribute at least $1 to our project.
Thanks for your support,
Andrew, David, Chad, Taylor
Not really sure, but you guys will get it as soon as it's finished. That's why we'll be posting updates on our progress. After we finish the music there's even more work that has to go into planning how to get the word out, probably a month or 2. But you kickstarters will get it when we finish the music before the planning stage, so it'll be quite a pre-release.
The Murfreesboro Recording Studio. It's owned by Jimmy Mansfield who is also the main producer of our New EP. Yes we are having lots of people collaborate on this project with us to make it the best it can be! http://murfreesbororecordingstudio.com/
Mainly out of respect. The discussed parties asked to remain nameless for the time being. Just know that they are amazing at what they do and we've been very fortunate to have them take interest in our songs!
We've played a lot of major venues in Nashville Tn such as: The Wildhorse Saloon, The Hard Rock Cafe, Exit/In, 3rd and Lindsley, The Rutledge and The Country Music Marathon 2010/2011.
We partnered with the PreemptiveLoveCoalition which raises money to pay for life saving heart surgery for little children in Iraq. We're always looking for ways to help them out.
In 2009 our song "Ocean" was played in-stores all over Hungary. Lol we thought it was a joke too until they started paying us a bit each month on paypal.
Our youtube has been gaining some speed this year! Our acoustic cover of Death Cab's "You Are A Tourist" has received 25,000 views and the music video for our song "Harbor Lights", directed by Olan Rogers, has received a combined count of 31,420 views to date!
Most importantly we feel that we've made some great music, put everything we've had into it and written songs that were close to our hearts. When other people connect with our music like we do, it means the world to us!
Remember when we said we were working to make ends meet? We weren't kidding. Taylor and David were at work so we improvised.
