The Avant Music Festival is five nights of contemporary avant-garde music presented each February at The Wild Project in New York City’s East Village. The 2012 Festival, taking place February 10-18th, features a day of celebrations in honor of John Cage’s 100th Birthday, new works by minimalist composer Randy Gibson, an evening pairing Arnold Schönberg’s “Pierrot Lunaire” with works by Jenny Olivia Johnson, and the evening-length presentation of Eve Beglarian’s “Songs From The River and Elsewhere.” Avant Media needs your help to ensure the total realization of these diverse artists’ visions. The focused method of concert programming that is at the heart of the Avant Music Festival – where a single composer is selected for each night and given free reign – is something all-too-rare in the world of contemporary music. The festival offers the opportunity for composers to have their work performed wholly as they envision – whether that is as a solo concert or alongside interrelated works.
We are raising $1000 to make sure we can take care of all the needs of our artists, from instruments, to programs; from lighting, to microphones and everything in between.
As a special treat to you, our donors, we will be presenting a special preview concert and party at The Wild Project on December 19th. Everyone pledging $10 or more through this Kickstarter campaign will be able to attend this special event with performances by Eve Beglarian and Mary Rowell, members of the Pierrot Project, and Randy Gibson.
All donors will have their names listed in printed programs and online. In addition to the performances, the December 19th preview party will include free wine and beer, food, and a raffle.
