" The wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings. Let food be your medicine."
The Earth Harmony Festival - a weekend gathering at Avalon Organic Gardens & EcoVillage on October 6th and 7th focused on experiencing a sustainable, agricultural-based community in Southern Arizona. Festival participants will have the opportunity to learn more about growing organic produce, Permaculture principles, heritage and heirloom crops, seed-saving, and food preservation, while witnessing the magic of one of the country’s largest and longest sustaining EcoVillages!
Avalon Organic Gardens & EcoVillage is a prototype society that has been growing its own food and developing alternative green building techniques for over 23 years. Nestled in the fertile Santa Cruz River Valley south of Tucson, Arizona, Avalon Gardens continues in the area’s long tradition of multicultural cooperation and agricultural heritage in an intimate village setting.
We are asking for financial support to produce the Earth Harmony Festival so we can eliminate a gate fee, making it more accessible to people. We look forward to sharing our passion and knowledge of growing organic food with everyone! Each person who learns how to plant a seed and reap the harvest, takes a step towards a more sustainable future.
Three different tours of Avalon Organic Gardens & EcoVillage will be offered during the Earth Harmony Festival. Each tour is unique and offered twice daily, focusing on different aspects of a sustainable lifestyle. We encourage people to attend all three!
• Growing Green: Fruits and Vegetables
• Peaceful Pastures: Living with Animals (free range chicken eggs, raw goat milk & cheese, raw honey, and organic grass fed beef.)
• Better Building: Alternative and Green Techniques
In addition to the tours and knowledgeable gardeners of Avalon, the Earth Harmony Festival will feature guest speaker Gary Nabhan, an internationally respected author and authority on food diversity and the local food movement.
The Earth Harmony Festival is an all-ages event and will feature exciting activities for the whole family including live music, local healthy food, art & crafts booths, and hay rides throughout the property. Camping at Avalon Organic Gardens & EcoVillage for the weekend is available for a small donation.
In world that is getting crazier and more confused, we need creative ways of connecting with others in cooperation, communication, and compassion. The Earth Harmony Festival is a call to people of all ages, races, and cultures to come together for a sustainable future. Participation is the best way that you can support the festival, if you cannot make it, we hope you will help us financially and please share this project with everyone who eats food!
