BOOK MILLE MIGLIA’S CHASSIS
MILLE MIGLIA’S CHASSIS is a journey through the cars that took part to one of the most famous races of motorsport’s golden era. In collaboration with Museo Mille Miglia (Brescia, Italy) it is an ambitious project and the first of its kind: its aim is to document all the cars which participated at every edition of the original race between 1927 and 1957. This will allow the reader to begin a journey back in time, with a full-immersion reading to experience the era even today. MILLE MIGLIA’S CHASSIS will be developed in a series of 10 volumes: Each car featured that took part to the Mille Miglia from 1927 to 1957 is presented with two lists: one about all the Mille Miglia speed races in which it took part, a second one of following events under the Mille Miglia name. To conclude, a third separate list comprehends the categories of the car according to AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES, the stone from which spring the pages of the book and includes all the races and events in which the car took part all over the world in the years. Moreover, the cars that participated from 1958 to the events in the name of the Mille Miglia appear in another section of the book.
Written for the motoring enthusiasts all over the World, MILLE MIGLIA’S CHASSIS is the definitive opus giving its readers a full perspective of the diversity and ingenuity of the machinery running the most beautiful race the world has ever seen. In the first volume of the series there will be 49 cars featured which took part in the original editions of the race, plus another 42 of those participating in events under the Mille Miglia name from 1958 to today.
MILLE MIGLIA’S CHASSIS will be entirely edited by AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES under the patronage of the Museo Mille Miglia. The first volume of the series will be written entirely in English by Sandro Binelli and will be generously sized at 250 x 325 mm. It will be printed in Italy in about 300 high-quality paper pages.
In Sandro's words, MILLE MIGLIA’S CHASSIS is "the toughest challenge that we're facing: it will correctly identify the cars that have competed in the Mille Miglia over the years and it will allow to discover their history too, even beyond this magnificent event. It is a truly immense task that will be done in a revolutionary way and it will give justice to this remarkable chapter in automotive history".
MILLE MIGLIA’S CHASSIS benefits from AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES' experience in professional historical research on historically significant automobiles. This book is the 1st of a series that will draw a census of the cars that have competed in races over the years, making this work available in a highly shareable platform. The MILLE MIGLIA’S CHASSIS project is naturally born from the AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES project, home of a global census of the masterpieces among cars in history on accurate parameters after very thorough researches, digitalizing facts, photos and documents from archives and sources for the best sharing opportunity. So that, to increase the reading experience in the book, each car featured will have its own QR code, enabling a never-seen-before digital access to more historical details and furthermore competition historical facts. Each of the 91 cars featured in this book have been studied by AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES before.
MILLE MIGLIA CHASSIS will be the first and “one of a kind” series of volumes dedicated to vintage motoring enthusiasts: the first of the 10 volumes will mark the beginning of a true collector's item, a “must have” for the petrol-head who wants to have all the cars which took part in the Mille Miglia in his/her bookshelf!
And there’s more: the project is not planning only a book series about cars at the Mille Miglia but, with a wider look, the same approach and the indispensable help of our precious sources, there will be other series about cars in other significant races. The Targa Florio’s Chassis, The Coppa Intereuropa’s Chassis are previewed to be published in the future, allowing the reader to expand the knowledge on a single chassis with ease.
