I just saw this on Dvice.com and signed up as a backer. But what surprises me are two things (a) Kickstarter's apparently inconsistent ways of selecting what gets posted and what doesn't and (b) why great tech ideas don't always do so well. On the first point, this item is clearly outside Kickstarter's allegedly "creative" artsy/fartsy focus..asthis is pure tech design item, I'm surprised they posted it. They gave me a rash of crap for my project sometime ago which and I wonder if they put poor Falco through a rejection/rewrite/accept cycle as well. On the second point, this is a simply fabulous idea, but its only got $10k in 10 days...what's up with that? Conversely, an elderly, overweight woman who gets picked on by a bunch of kids on a bus gets $200k in a week. Maybe its all about product positioning?
I've had an AudioGlove for many months now, and it's made a big difference in my car. I use Waze on my iPhone with a dashboard mount all the time for navigation, and before AudioGlove, it could be hard to hear over the road noise. Siri was impossible to use. Now I don't even have to turn the volume all the way up for Waze and Siri can understand me, even on the highway.
Another unexpected benefit is that extending the case makes it easier to use the touch screen one-handed -- previously hitting the bottom of the screen was a stretch.
Thanks for the great design Falco! Count me in for a stand!
