Attack The Pack is a card game that replicates the experience of a pro bike race from your jersey pocket. It can be played at home, at the coffee stop or after dinner during a three-week grand tour...
In Attack The Pack you deploy a team of riders against your opponents to attack the peloton, create a winning breakaway and finally take on that agonising sprint to the finish. Will you collude with your opponents, backing them up until the final sprint? Will you conspire against them, building an alliance and leaving them trailing in your wake? Or will you just go hell-for-leather from the starting line, trusting everyone else to do the dirty work?
Whatever you choose, that’s only the beginning of the challenge! The course itself, weather conditions and individual moments of brilliance from riders make Attack The Pack as beautifully unforgiving as real racing. The game is for 2-4 players and lasts approx 20min.
This is just the beginning for Attack The Pack. We already have ideas for extensions, enhancements and expansion packs, but we need your support to make it happen.
We've been developing Attack the Pack for the past 18 months. We're in the latter phases of play-testing, we've begun illustration and we're finalising our production partners. All we need to get Attack the Pack over the line is your support. Your funds will go to make sure we can pay our artist a fair wage for over 50 different illustrations, and as you can see she puts the effort in! The rest will be used to pay our printers to make the game.
EDIT: Now we've hit our target, it's time for some stretch goals!
What do you do when you reach your limit? You push on through! So we're screaming 'shut up legs' and going for our stretch goal of 9 & 12K. The additional funding will help us provide some funding toward our first expansion ‘The Ardenne’.
Most of our funding is from direct referral so we’re asking YOU to share Attack The Pack’s Kickstarter Campaign with your friends.
At 9K we'll select one lucky backer at random to get the "Your Face In The Game Pledge". Send us a picture of yourself riding and we'll get Adrienne to draw you as one of the named riders in the game and be immortalised forever!
If we reach our stretch goal at 12K we will send every backer a branded water bottle (or bidon if you’re a traditionalist) to say thank you.
So please, tell your friends about Attack The Pack and let’s get back on the road!
In attack the pack riders, effects, actions and road cards are drawn from a central deck.
Riders are played into the peloton, from which attacks can be launched by the strength of those in your team. However, it's unlikely that your team will have the power necessary to create a lead group or 'break'. No, instead you must convince your opponents to help you establish one. Once established your job, if in the break, is to hold the gap to the finish. If still in the peloton, the mission is to bring the break back and establish your own.
But be careful! At any moment a player can change the road type, so that flat section your sprinters are doing so well on will suddenly turn into a mountain, and any climbers will overtake!
Once the last card is drawn from the player deck each player gets one last opportunity to put their riders in front for the sprint to the line. First one over wins!
The fab folks from LOKSAK make these great waterproof pouches, so we thought they would be great to keep your deck safe.
We love Adrienne's artwork so much we thought you would too, so we've added some t-shirts, musettes and a limited edition print of our Hero image to go with you deck.
So grab a deck, go for a ride and Attack The Pack!
Thanks to Laura Fletcher @cassette_media for the great video!
Risks and challenges
Our artist is primed and ready to go, so as soon as we've hit 100% funding she'll get on with the artwork, and as you can see her artwork is fantastic quality which takes time! Whilst we're waiting for her to do over fifty illustrations, we'll use this time to do another round of playtesting. When the designs are finished it'll be a case of making sure the printers are happy, then sending all the decks to around the world.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
