Wow.. what a few busy weeks we had! But we have so much good news to share. Read further!

Homey is in production!

We did our best job at designing the hardware we could, and now the manufacturers are producing the Homeys.

The injection mold is being made as we speak, and we expect the first Homey cases within 2 or 3 weeks.

The electronics are being produced as well. All the components are patiently waiting to be placed on the prints. We expect the final Homeys within 2 weeks. If they work as expected (and there's no reason they wouldn't, we've literally tested everything) we can give the manufacturer the job to produce over a thousand of them.

The packaging design is still being worked on, but it's gonna be awe-some!

Delivery times

"When will I receive my Homey" is our most asked question. We love that you want to have it, so that's a good thing! :-)

We expect/hope to deliver on the following times:

  • Super backer + First batch: Mid July
  • Geek: Beginning of august
  • Regular: Mid august
  • (Very) Early birds: End august

These are estimates! It could be sooner or later, but we're doing the best we can to ship in time!

Software software software

We've made so much software over the last time. Varying from secure boot (so no one can access your Homey, even if they have physical access)to functionality that allows you to access your Homey from anywhere in the world. Of course, the wireless radios are all getting close to being done.

Most work is to make Homey easy to use for developers as well. Adding new device support can be done now within a few hours! Check out the developer website as well ». Geek backers already got their invite to a Virtual Homey to play around with it. Everyone else will follow soon as well, expect two or three weeks!

Hackathom @ University of Twente

We've hosted a hackathon (12 hour code marathon) on our University, to let students come up with ideas for Homey and make apps for them. It was so fun to see people make Homey Apps! Some of the ideas were typical domitcs, like reading solar panel usage, buit also completely out-of-the box like a Twister game app.

Backer Barbecue

On May the 22nd we had a barbecue for all of you backers. It was amazing to get such warm support in real life, thank you all so much!

In case you missed it, here are a few photos:

And last but definitely not least...

...we've raised over € 1 Million in funding!

Yep, you read that correctly. We're now officially a million dollar company ;-) Read the press release here ».

This means that we can take Homey into the stores after we've shipped all the Kickstarter orders, maybe even do a little bit of marketing. This is good news for you as well, because it gives us as a company more room to continue development. And of course, the more Homey users there are, the more apps there will be developed!

How can you tell what you are (early bird vs first catch etc) - its been a while since I backed and its not obvious which category I fall into... Looking forward to my Homey arriving!

      Thanks Emile.

Super early birds: reason why changed to geek was the later delivery for super early birds. So it was communicated. You got the best deal when it comes to the price you payed ;-)

      Awesome job! Congrats.
And i'm also rather sad that we get our homey's after anyone else. Doesn't feel super early bird. As Danee said, first ones to back, last ones to be rewarded for that.

Nice job guys! I agree with Danee regarding the very early birds shipment date. What's the logic behind it? Can't wait receiving our Homey.

@Danee, sorry to hear that! Maybe you missed it on the Kickstarter page when you backed? We thought it would be fair to compensate for the cheaper price.

Great news! Keep up the good work.
There is just one thing I don't get; Why are the (very) early birds last in line on receiving their Homey's? We were the first to back you and you treat us like this... :(
