Hello again! We are the Atéa Quintet, and we are very excited to announce that we're going back in the recording studio to record our 2nd CD!
We want to thank everyone who supported our first Kickstarter project, which helped realise our debut CD. The album was released last year, and after a successful launch and favourable reviews, people all around the world are enjoying our love of chamber music, and we have been broadcast on radio stations in UK, Japan, even Australia! We are now preparing our next CD, and this time the project brings us together with four of our wonderful friends: Jenny Melville (oboe), Jordan Black (clarinet), Andrew Watson (bassoon) and Paul Cott (horn).
The repertoire will be:
An arrangement by Quentin Poole of a delightful Mozart sonata
and British composer William Alwyn’s concerto for flute and 8 winds.
This is an exciting and unusual programme, and we look forward to showcasing these three gems, as these larger scale works are so rarely recorded, let alone performed. We will be recording the CD the wonderful St Judes Church in London, working with the fantastic Coviello Classics who produced our debut CD!
Now, we need your help! As you can see we are doing another Kickstarter and would really appreciate any support you can give us! Recording a project of this size takes slightly more funds than our last project, however thanks to the generosity of the William Alwyn Foundation and some incredibly kind sponsors we are part of the way there! There are awesome rewards available, so do check out which ones you would like; whether it is a CD or two, your very own concert, or just a coaster with our faces on it! We would appreciate any support - even if it’s just spreading the word with your friends and colleagues. Many thanks again!!
Risks and challenges
As ever, the best laid plans of Mice and Men... We believe we have thoroughly prepared for all eventualities and have left room to manoeuvre in terms of time and budget, with all the music having been prepared well in advance, the project planning all being completely under control and the actual execution of the recording being handled with German levels of precision and rigour.
Our biggest concern is that the the CD does not end up being funded, so please do join us in creating this album, any help will be gratefully received.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
