This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Wed, May 1 2019 1:08 AM UTC +00:00.
My name is Nikki Zeo and my goal is to educate kids about different cultures. I plan on having a 2 or 3 part series of books that introduce kids to different countries. This Kickstarter is about Asia. Asia has many rich cultures and there are many things we do not know about them. When I was looking at what books were out there on this subject, I could not find many that were geared towards kids. Also, most children's books are mainly about Chinese kids. There is not much awareness of other Asian countries.
The book I am creating, A Taste of Asia, will contain 20 Asian countries. I am working in collaboration with Norby Ela. He has created amazing images for this book which make the book come alive. The funds collected will be used to create the books and rewards.
Nikki Zeo [Author]: Nikki was a nurse and now homemaker. She was born in the Philippines and moved to Singapore when she was six years old. Her family moved to the United states when she was nine years old, back to Singapore when she was a freshman in high school and finally back to the United States in her junior year of high school. She now lives in northeastern United States with her husband and two kids. Travel has been a big part of her life growing up and it is her aspiration to travel the world in the future. She is the author of The GJB Guide: Crocheted Dolls which was successfully funded here on Kickstarter. She has a YouTube page where she teaches others how to crochet cute video game dolls and other various characters. She also has a website (piglovesmouse.com) where she blogs regularly.
Norby Ela [Illustrator]: Norby Ela (@norbyela) lives in Quezon City, Philippines with his girlfriend and his three dogs. He works in an ad agency and runs the local geek media website, FlipGeeks (www.flipgeeks.com) during the day. At night, he draws his own short story comics and does his art commissions.
Bookmarks, stickers and magnets will contain images I have drawn of mythical creatures from the 20 countries included in the book. The shirts will look like this:
Here is a sample of one of the pages. Each one has bold and bright colors, all illustrated by Norby Ela.
The images are accompanied by facts about each country. In the back of the book is a list of common practices and traditions of the countries included in the book.
Risks and challenges
I will work hard to get your books and rewards on time. Since I am a mom of 2 young children, there may be a slight chance that some packages will be a few days late. Also, the project at the start of the Kickstarter is at its infancy. The books and rewards will be created and ordered once the Kickstarter is successfully funded.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
