Help us fund the shooting and editing of a documentary DVD chronicling "The Last Laugh" our farewell tour of the old hometown of Austin
On April 21, 22 and 23 the Asylum Street Spankers will play their final shows ever. Three different shows in three venues:
April 21, The Cactus Cafe; Givin' the People What They Want
We will play a set chosen by fans in an online poll, which closed April 1..
April 22, Ruta Maya; Night of 1000 Egos
A mob of former Spankers, including Stanley Smith, Guy Forsyth, Pops Bayless, Mysterious John, Olivier Giraud, and many, many more will join us for a night of memories, music and, we expect, heavy drinking.
April 22, US Art Authority; Spanks for Everything
The current band brings the farewell show that has been selling out venues around the country to Austin. This is the final public performance of the Asylum Street Spankers.
These three big nights, filled with old and new friends, reminiscing and making new memories MUST be documented. So we are raising funds to finance the shooting and editing of a feature length documentary DVD to accompany a live album in a double disk package. Entitled The Last Laugh, this will be the final Spankers release, tentatively scheduled for October 2011.
The film will be more than just performance footage. Cameras will follow the band throughout the week to media appearances, after parties, load-ins, soundchecks, and backstage. Filmmakers will interview current and former Spankers about their thoughts and feelings as the history of a legendary and influential act comes to its end.
Your support of this project will help us ensure that though the Spankers are ending, these memories are recorded and preserved forever.
Spanks for Everything!
