Allentown, Pennsylvania. A city in desperate need of some loving. This spring, Firebird Theatre's artistic director Daniel Sottile found that love was a thing he had in excess, and decided to spread some of it around. In a good way.
He is going to stand up in the middle of the city and shout out "I Love You" at least ten thousand times without taking a break to eat, sleep or converse.
After the resounding success of last years Shakespeare on Seventh production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream," Firebird Theatre continues to pursue our mission of reaching out to the community of Allentown. This year we will be producing the Bard's classic tragic love story, Romeo & Juliet, but in order to get it off the ground, we need a little love from all of you.
For every dollar donated, Daniel (who is directing the play) will shout out "I Love You" ten times standing on a scaffold high above the streets of Allentown. He will not eat, sleep or say anything but "I Love You" until he has called out every single one.
Ten Thousand is our goal here, but Dan will say as many as people pledge for. He could literally be up there for days, calling out "I Love You" to the people of Allentown. In fact we should totally make him do that.
So pledge away! Remember, you don't need to use the exact "Reward Level" amounts, you can say exactly how much you want to pledge. So, for instance, if you are big fan of the number 42 (and let's be honest, who isn't?) you could donate $4.20, and sleep soundly at night knowing that 42 of those "I Love You's" are thanks to you!
The entire event will be streaming live on a webcam, and we will be producing a DVD (available to those who pledge $35 or more) which will include highlights from the event, before and after interviews with Dan, and other special features.
