Heat is a simple to teach game, with intrigue and strategy that builds up the more you play it. You'll play through three heists, drafting cards before each, and then paying off the Heat you've gained at the end.

Heat is easy to get to the table, and only takes about 20-30 minutes to play including a quick explanation. While the mechanics are simple, the depth of the game will become apparent after a few plays when you start predicting the cards others' play, telling white lies about your own plans, and using your misdirecting intrigue to outmaneuver your fellow criminals! Heat is fun, and you will like it.

The rules will be laid out in booklet format for the print edition, but not until we know the precise box size we're going with, and that depends on some of the Stretch Goals below!
Note that while the Print and Play includes just the cards, and not the tokens, the real edition will contain everything you need to play!
The Designer: Dave Chalker is the designer of Heat. You probably know him from Get Bit, which won an Origins Award and was on TableTop. I know him because we've been going to Origins for approximately ever! When he told me about the concept for Heat, I immediately jumped on it and got our elite art squad working on it.
The Artist: Cara Judd drew all those things for all those cards. She is the artist for Innovation, and the most important game ever made, Win, Lose or Banana! Cara likes to scuba dive, and hopes to one day meet a squid. They seem like pretty cool dudes.
The Composer: Jesse Ratterree, aka Beatscribe, composed the heisty music in our video, and is also working on all the music for Asmadi Games' upcoming project, Consequential. If you're looking for someone to do music for a KS vid, you should talk to him!
The Voice: Kate McDermott led you through the basics of Heist training, and likes to move in a diagonal fashion. She also will be providing the voice of Caliana for Consequential. Kate is most likely not currently stealing a muffin from your countertop...but can you be sure?
The Developer: Chris Cieslik, that's me! I move all the numbers around and come up with ideas that make good games great. Sometimes I make completely unplaytested games, but that is a different story.
Our current operation is a heist. We're going to steal a small amount of money from each of you, and in exchange we'll give you some card game. In fact, we're so cool that if our heist is really successful, we'll make the game even better:
If, by some insanity we exceed $40,000, we will make up stretch goals involving a penguin.

The backer levels for Heat aren't too complex because we like running a pretty simple heist, except for two interesting twists...
The Steal: There's one available at the start of the campaign, and sometime during each day we'll quietly make another available. First one to the page gets it! Remember that you can adjust your backer level even after you've backed :)
The Story: We will collaborate on an excellent Heist story for you, based on some prompting from you. We promise it will be good, and by good we mean amazing. And by amazing we mean written by us.
Risks and challenges
There're always risks, but we use a US based factory (with only a few bits coming from Germany!) so a lot of the importing difficulties and timing problems just don't apply to us! We've got the art and packaging all ready to go, so this Kickstarter really is just giving us the extra funding to press Go on the print run now.
In the case that bandits do wind up stealing our caravan's goods, we'd certainly either produce more games or refund people their money.
