Stretch goal #1: Add 10 more women to the packs of cards, for a total of 60 cards. Accomplished!
Stretch Goal #2: Put into production a book featuring artwork and stories about contemporary children doing brave things. Each backer will receive a copy. Will be reached at $15,000

As a kid, I was good at math, but by the time I was in high school, I'd stopped pursuing it seriously because I didn't think it was what girls did. Two decades, and a 2 year old daughter later, I recognize that the world is a changing place for our women and girls, and I want to do my part in the evolution.

By backing this project you will receive a set of fifty 4x6 inch printed art cards. The cards feature hand-drawn and painted illustrations of 50 different women, along with their stories and a quote from them on the back. They are perfect for sitting down with a child, neighbor, niece or nephew to promote introspection and inspiration. They make great gifts, or donations to local classrooms. The cards can also be given individually or framed as artwork.
I believe in the effective power of well-made tangible objects, and so the cards will be durable (thick with a matte finish) and just the right size for little hands. The cards are meant to be handled, played with and used for a long time.
The portraits are finished, the writing for the back has been researched and written, and the cards are designed, so your pledge will go toward the actual production of the cards, promotion and funds to visit as many classrooms as possible to speak to the children and gift a set of cards.

As I began to research, draw, paint and write about each of these 50 women, I realized that too many of the names were simply that--names. Names that I had vaguely heard of, but hardly knew anything about. I recognized a lack of a gathering place for these women and stories from the past. I couldn't find any websites that had gathered these stories and I couldn't find any products that I would want to buy for my daughter or nieces, so I decided to make my own.
Through this project, I've created a supportive network of women's stories and examples to draw from in my own life. My happiest moments of working on this project over the last year have been seeing adults taking time with the paintings to talk to someone younger and tell the story of other women, which often leads to them telling their own story as well. There is so much power in building a reservoir of examples. It builds confidence and provides purpose and helps us to take accountability for our own story. I am excited to get the cards printed and into the hands of people!

Risks and challenges
The cards are painted, designed, written and ready to be printed, so the only issues to tackle would be working through any printing issues that are unforeseen. I've written, illustrated, designed and printed several children's books through my first Kickstarter project in 2013. I've learned a lot and am ready and excited to complete this this project!
