About

After I graduated high school in 2013 I started working on this tabletop game to enjoy with friends and family. I started my schools Dungeons and Dragons club and loved the game so much, I did have some issues with it. I felt that because there are so many rules and how complicated it can be it's overwhelming for new players to learn (from my experience) so I wanted to make my own game with less complicated rules that is friendlier to new players making it easier for everyone to enjoy. A big difference between my game (Ashes of New Earth) and Dungeons and Dragons is where D&D has elves, orcs, halflings, wizards, barbarians and bards, as where my game has aliens, androids, super humans and mutants. There are no classes in my game, instead players have a list of super powers and mutations that they can choose from to design their own custom super hero. There are hundreds of different combination possibilities that can be made making everyone's character feel unique and different from everyone else. I took elements from D&D that I love and changed the things I didn't and implemented it into a completely different genre. I grew up loving comic books, super hero movies, and anime and a lot of the powers in my game were inspired from all of these different medias. When playing D&D my friends and I had all these ideas about our characters about different skills and abilities that they could have but D&D doesn't have much room for the players imagination to influence their play style, so I made sure that each player has plenty of room to express their own creativity through the game.

After years of working on it I have all of the writing done (game design, mechanics, skills, powers, races, monsters, lore, etc.) the next step is to pay an artist to bring it to life. Right now it's a little over 100 pages and the artwork for all of it is a little pricey, but with these funds I'll have enough to hire an artist I found on Fiverr to create all of the illustrations needed and format the game manual. Once the that is done I'm hoping to self publish it and make it available to everyone as soon as possible.

Any donation is greatly appreciated, I've been working on this project for so long now and I feel so close to the finish line. It would make me so happy to reach this goal and finish this project that I'm proud of. Thank you all in advance!

Risks and challenges

This project might be too big for one illustrator to take on and finish in a reasonable time frame but if that's the case I can break up the work and pay a handful of artist to each work on different parts for this project.
