About this project
Risks and challenges
This is a big undertaking but we are up to it. We are obsessive perfectionists who love what we do. The fact that this kickstarter page alone took just over two months to map out speaks of our thoroughness. These high standards bring the risk that the project may run longer than expected, but we've already begun setting deadlines. You can be sure that this project will be completed and that the quality will be outstanding.
Should we achieve the necessary backing for Stretch Goal 3, publication of a hardcover drawing book, we will need to decide whether to go with a publishing house or to self-publish. There are plusses and minuses to both, so we're taking the time to research this decision.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
If you're just after a deck of cards, we have 50 decks available at the earlybird rate of £8.
If you want more than one deck, but no other rewards, please pledge £8 for the first deck and £12 for any additional decks.
For supporters at any other level, please add £12 to receive your deck (this includes shipping anywhere in the world).
For pledges up to £25, this £12 addition will get you one deck. However, for all pledges £50 AND ABOVE, £12 will get you 3 decks, shipping included!
The £15 pledge is for you! This will get you a PDF of the ebook.
For £16 you will receive a digital download of the film.
Good choice, as they will complement each other. For £25, you will receive digital copies of both the film and the book, basically the complete drawing course.
We realise these are not the cheapest cards on Kickstarter (though we think they are some of the loveliest). We hope you'll understand that we're running the Boss Deck as a promotional extra to raise funds and spread awareness for our main project, which is the creation of a drawing course. Still, the cards will be of the best possible quality: full customised magician's quality Bicycle cards, in a limited edition, with beautiful designs.
Ok, the cards have made this a tiny bit complicated, so bear with us.
If you are receiving just a print (no cards), then that will be dispatched in April.
If you are receiving a print AND cards, then to save shipping and carbon, we'll send those together in July.
If you are receiving just cards, those will be dispatched in July.
As for the book and the film, those will be made available digitally in about a year. We're considering releasing them chapter by chapter, as they are completed, so there's a possiblity of getting some material sooner. We'll keep in touch, though, don't worry.
The trailer is promotion for the course, which we're still developing, and it's not intended as instruction. Ash has spent over a year now researching and developing his teaching methodology, but it takes time to put this together, especially considering the extremely high design and production standards that we want for both the film and the book. If you want instruction now, we highly recommend the books of Andrew Loomis, Harold Speed and Juliette Aristides.
The physical book is something we may be able to do in the future, in fact we really hope we can approach a publisher with this idea. It was initially the idea to have this aspect as a stretch goal but we don't think we're going to get that far. So, it's all digital for now, but we think the important part is what's contained inside. Always nice to have something to hold, we understand.. we're bibliophiles too!
..I can't figure out...if it's a DVD or cards...but it's really cool! --Pendleton Ward (Adventure Time)
It's a complete drawing course, available digitally, comprising a PDF book and a downloadable film. The deck of cards are an extra bonus reward to have on funtimes. (He totally figured this out on his own, by the way, but his first tweet made us giggle and we wanted to share.)
We are planning for a limited run of physical DVDs for the £25 tier. This will benefit people who wont be able to download large files when the time comes. Also, quite a few people seem to be giving this as a gift.. so we think it's a better experience to get something in hand rather than have a load of video files... to wrap up.. in digital wrapping paper... In the survey at the end you will be able to clarify how you would like to receive the product.
You can ignore this. There was at the beginning a tier that included a postcard but we have since removed this but are unable to remove the £1 from a backed tier since it is now not editable.
16.5 x 11.7 Inches
I'm confused the 150£ tier says a hand drawn picture is tucked into the DVD case. This would seem to imply there is a physical DVD, right?
At the start of this project we had in mind that is was going to be a physical DVD... but we have since had many backers come forward and suggest other ways that would be far more accessible. We agreed and have since changed the medium. It is no longer possible to change the info on that tier because it has been pledged for.
Sorry, we know this is confusing.
