Songbird: A Nightingale Story
Hello and welcome to this, my very first Kickstarter. Right now, I am feeling more nervous than a young zebra which has walked into a bar only to find it’s recently been converted into one of those trendy lion bars that seem to be springing up all over the Serengeti. So please be gentle with me.
I am the author of ten books, the bulk of which follow my fictional investigator of the paranormal, Sam Spallucci. A quirky blend of urban fantasy and film noir, my books see our beleaguered hero constantly pitted against vexed vampires, bondage loving banshees, paranoid poltergeists and the like in my home town of Lancaster.
During my time writing Sam’s adventures, it has become rather apparent that one side character, a vampire named Nightingale, has become a firm fan favourite. So it is that I have written Songbird as a sort of origins story for her. We see her travel from living in poverty on the streets of Victorian England to becoming the ruler of the secretive group of vampires known as the Children of Cain. Along the way she suffers at the hands of a sadistic employer, is rescued by her vampire father Doulos, then is whisked off to the Wild West of America in search of her missing sibling where she encounters evil from both the worlds of the supernatural and the mortal.
In order to support this campaign, you don’t have to donate an arm or a leg (in fact, please don’t as I have no use for body parts...) Rewards start from just £1 for a digital copy of Liam Shaw’s amazing cover art. Plus for just a little bit more, you can receive digital copies of both Songbirdand the Sam Spallucci story The Case of The Belligerent Bard. Should you want hard copies of the artwork and/or the books, they are listed too, along with a book of The Casebook of Sam Spallucci. All paperbacks come signed. Please make sure that you choose the correct reward that you want.
I hope that this little ramble has piqued your interest and that you might consider supporting this, my first Kickstarter outing. Should you want more details about me, please feel free to check out my website: www.aschambers.co.uk. I also have a Facebook page, a Twitter account and a space over on Instagram.
All the best,
Risks and challenges
This project will be going ahead regardless of whether I raise the finances or not, so the only risk to you will be should I not reach my target. If that is the case then the Kickstarter campaign will have unfortunately failed and the rewards will not be issued. As I have a very low target of just £75, fingers crossed that this should not happen and, at the the beginning of July, I will be sending a plethora of rewards out to my backers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
