About
If you're a fan of stories and characters found in Tron, Reboot, Quantum Leap, Sliders, Inception, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Xena: Warrior Princess, The Legend of Korra, and anime, then Video Game Gals is right up your alley.
If you're a fan of fun, well drawn comics in a self contained storyline, then Video Game Gals will thrill and engage your imagination!
If you're a person that can see the potential in projects and want to see them grow and how far they'll go, then you've come to the right place to take an active role in bringing Video Game Gals to life!

WHO I AM.
My name is Jeffrey Moy and I am the creator, writer, and artist of Video Game Gals. Over my 20 year career, I have worked for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Wildstorm, IDW Publishing and Activision. I am mostly known for my 5 year run penciling Legionnaires for DC Comics and the many Star Trek comics I've done.
As a video game concept artist, I have worked on such titles as: Star Wars: Jedi Outcast, the X-Men Legends series, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Singularity, and Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Video Game Gals is my first creator owned property and it is my sincere wish to see it be published so that it would bring a smile to faces around the world.
WHAT IS VIDEO GAME GALS ABOUT?
VIDEO GAME GALS is a graphic novel set in the near future where we follow a team of specialists from a newly formed organization called the VIRTUAL GLOBAL GUARDIANS. They respond to the emergence of interdimensional rifts that have begun opening up around the metropolis of Center City. The strange thing about these rifts, besides them actually existing, is that people that are caught up or enter them are transported to a dimension that owes it's origins to various types of video games with it's own settings and rules. The VIDEO GAME GALS enter the rifts, download the rules, goals, and characters to rescue victims, beat the game and safely close the rift.
Could it be that easy? Magic 8 Ball says, "Of course not." With each rift that opens up, a new and exciting adventure takes place. What adventures and dangers that await the VIDEO GAME GALS are really whatever the imagination can think of.

The game type the Gals find themselves transported to in the first hardcover graphic novel, is that of the classic Role Playing Game, Dungeons and Dragons style, with dank labyrinths, pitfalls, lethal booby traps, and MONSTERS! Oh, there's plenty of them! All being lead by the evil sorcerer and dungeon master, Zarquon!
Will the V.G.G. be able to defeat the evils that await them and rescue hapless victims, or will they fail and become trapped by this world themselves???
THE CHARACTERS

The team is comprised of 4 women, each with a distinct and easily accessible personality type. AMBER is the steadfast leader, joined by her best friend RENE, who tends to act first and think second. Two members were assigned to them: LEONA is a very book smart and follow the rules kinda gal, when she's not being socially awkward, while CORI enjoys the spontaneity of the moment and follows her instinct. Cori wears her obsession with the 80's on her padded shoulders.
Throughout the graphic novel you'll learn a bit more about their backgrounds and personalities and see how they begin to form solid teamwork and friendships.
If you're a fan of the portrayal of women in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Xena: Warrior Princess, and the Legend of Korra, then you'll dig the Video Game Gals!
THE GRAPHIC NOVEL FORMAT

The graphic novel will include the all new, first official mission of the Virtual Global Guardians as well as the Video Game Gals Primer that appeared in Lone Star Comics' Shooting Star Anthology #4, all in full color. It will be 80 pages of action packed goodness and presented in a European hardcover fashion, measuring 8 by 12 inches.
This is the format that I chose, because I really feel the VIDEO GAME GALS deserve having a hardcover graphic novel to read with the larger size to appreciate the lovingly rendered art over that of a normal comic book. It will be something to sit on your shelf and easily taken out for a read through as well as being something that can be on the shelves of bookstores and libraries across America.

WORK TO BE DONE and FUND ALLOCATION
The funding goal here will be applied to the completion of the project. What I have so far is the complete pencils to the story, which is 64 pages in length. What needs to be done is inking, lettering, and coloring. Depending upon the funding raised I will complete it myself or will be able to hire someone to help out and get it finished faster, but in either case, people will have to be paid. We are professional artists and this is the way we make a living.
The funding also goes to get the HARDCOVER printed ( a minimum of $10K to $15K for 2000 copies, quality doesn't come cheap.), as well as the postcards, ashcans, sketchcards, prints and all the items shipped to you, our valuable backers (an additional $2500). And don't forget we have to compensate for the Kickstarter and Amazon fees (at least $2000). That leaves about $5,000 to $10,000 to complete the main work over the next few months.
Additional funds that exceeds the goal will be allocated to better and local production for printing and binding, more rewards, and toward producing the second graphic novel.

YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT: BACKER REWARDS!

As you can see there are many reward levels to choose from, but the more you back, the more art lover rewards are unlocked. If you like the art and the book sounds cool, the $25 reward level is for you. But if you'd like what you see and haven't seen my work before, then you'll want to play catchup and go for the higher rewards to get all those SKETCHGAMES sketchbooks.
The Sketchgames series of books detail the origins of the Video Game Gals with descriptions and a lot of concept art. They are an excellent collection of my work behind the scenes. Each Sketchgames reward comes with a custom made sketchcard, too!

It really is a great deal as I will be suspending my sketchbook sales at Comicon International and Chicago Comic Con to reserve them for Kickstarter backers.
People that attend Comic Con International and Chicago Comic Con will be able to see a preview of the penciled pages and those that are able to back the project for at least $10 will receive the 12 page VGG: Kickstarter Primer and Preview Ashcan regardless of the goal being met.

Because I'll be busy trying to get the book done and off to the printer, original art rewards are a bit higher, but definitely worth it. From sketchcards to drawings inserted into the book, to original pages, there's something for backers who want something more unique for their reward.

Unlocking new rewards is part of the game and if we are able to reach the $30,000 mark I have something special in mind for a high end reward at the $400 level. So let's get there!
LAST PITCH EFFORT...
With all the many comics and graphic novels out there tending to go to the extremes of being serious and gritty or super cute and nichy, not that there's anything wrong with that, I feel it's time for the VIDEO GAME GALS to make a mark in the world by being what comics used to be: a fun adventure, with great characters, story and action, wrapped up on one book. If you're willing to support this project, you can make your mark right along there with them.
Thank you for your time, attention, and backing!
~Jeff
