Doesn't everyone love Einstein? We sure do. The crazy hair, the bike, the wild tongue - Einstein was an irresistible icon of the 20th century. So we decided to make a game inspired by Einstein's life that is accessible to us all!
Einstein is a light co-op/competitive abstract strategy game for 2-4 players. Game time runs 15-30 minutes and takes you into the life and science of everybody's favorite genius - Albert Einstein.
Everyone Plays Einstein. Seriously, who else would you want to play? Each player represents Einstein during one of four periods in his life: Young, Prime, Globetrotting, and Wise.
Simple Mechanics. You place exactly two tiles on your turn minimizing downtime. These Idea Tiles are added to a common shape, the Big Idea, which is shared by everyone and evolves over the course of the game. Even non-gamers are playing in minutes.
Subtle Strategy. Each Einstein has their own Inspirations - private shapes they are trying to complete in the Big Idea. There are also Major Theory shapes that anyone can complete. Points are awarded for collaboration so be careful about helping your opponents too much!
Unique Tile Shapes Ensure Replay Value. Every player has four types of Idea Tiles symbolizing Einstein's knowledge of physics, mathematics, chemistry, and philosophy. Indulging our inner geek and paying homage to another famous physicist, Roger Penrose, we chose Penrose tiles for these which create amazing patterns and a different game every time.
Rich in History. Meticulously researched and full of fascinating detail, cards are loaded with history showcasing the human side and other lesser known aspects of Einstein's life. Guess who never wore socks and loved playing the violin...
Broken Token Premium Organizer. A sweet birch wood insert that you can also pledge as an add-on option to organize all of your components.
FREE Genius Expansion Stretch Goal. The Genius Expansion evolves the world of Einstein and provides an exciting step-up for our more energetic players. Leveraging the components in the base game, along with some new ones, the expansion layers on the kinds of strategic choices and player interactivity that hobby gamers love. It will include a new deck of cards to bring these mechanics to life along with entirely new rules for taking your Einstein experience to the Genius level! We're planning on charging for this at retail, but are providing it free to all campaign backers as a thank you for making this project a success!

We've partnered again with our friends from the Broken Token to create a sweet premium wood organizer for the campaign. Carefully designed to fit inside the base game box, this ⅛” Baltic Birch insert is custom-made for us with designated spaces to hold all of the goodies from Einstein! Plus, it comes in a neat package with detailed assembly instructions. Give your components the love they deserve!
Einstein takes 2-4 players on a tabletop tour of Einstein's life as they attempt to complete Inspirations and Major Theories using tile-shaped Ideas. Play is co-op/competitive, quick, and fun with tremendous replay value. Complete rules are available (excuse the draft form!) and we've also highlighted some of the major aspects of play below.
Einstein will be manufactured in China. Copies will then be sent to our fulfillment partner depots in various regions around the world for ultimate distribution to backers. This saves you on shipping and extra taxes.
We're offering deeply discounted shipping to our backers everywhere in the world. We recognize that even with these discounts, shipping to many parts of the world is just plain expensive, but we're doing what we can to make it easier.
Given our strategy of shipping to regional fulfillment depots, various countries will receive their copies at different times. Historically, backers in Asia and the Pacific receive their copies soonest since they are nearest to our manufacturer, then the U.S. and western Europe are relatively close together, and finally backers in the rest of the world receive theirs. We anticipate that all backers will receive their copies by June 2017, but most of you will receive your copies sooner. We'll keep you posted with more details via regular updates as we move forward into production and fulfillment.

(Designer) Dirk Knemeyer is the creative director of Artana. This is his ninth published game, including award-winners Tesla vs. Edison, Tomorrow, and The New Science. Dirk is also a host of The Game Design Round Table podcast, a show that talks to both digital and tabletop game designers about the theory and practice of game design. Outside of gaming, Dirk is a social futurist, studying culture and technology in order to propose better systems of existence. He lives in the Boston, Massachusetts area with his wife and two of his children.
(Art Director) Heiko Günther grew up on a mostly forgotten mesa in the depths of South America. He was raised by direct descendants of the Incan Empire and trained in the ancient art of Shinobi warfare. At the age of 8, he was given into the care of a globetrotting science fiction writer and acquired degrees in literature, science, and arts. From the age of 14 until 17, he worked on fishing trawler in the far eastern seas, perfecting his knowledge of forgotten languages and Polynesian mysticism. Since then, he lives in Saarbrücken, Germany, mostly, does graphic design and likes board games.
(Illustrator) Kwanchai Moriya is an artist based in Los Angeles who works primarily in board games and book publishing. Originally hailing from New York by way of the Chicago suburbs, Kwanchai is an avid painter working mostly in acrylics with science fiction and fantasy themes. When not creating amazing art for Artana and other clients, his hobbies include making wood toys, playing board games, and talking to his tortoise, Clementine.
(Lead Developer) Mackenzie Cameron is a full-time developer for Artana who eats, breathes, and lives games. He's the one with the wildest hair playing the most experimental prototypes.
Founded in 2015, Artana produces quality games and accessories to customers around the world. Artana, and its spiritual predecessor, Conquistador Games, are responsible for nine successful Kickstarter projects, including Tesla vs. Edison: War of Currents, Corrupted Kingdoms, Tomorrow, War Stories, and The Best Damn Gaming Coins Ever. Risks and challenges
As with all Kickstarter projects, there are risks outside our control that could slow down delivery of the project - shipping or customs delays, acts of God, disruptions of the space-time continum, etc. However, our team at Artana has finalized almost all of the art, components, and design of Einstein. We've tested it, retested it, given it love, and are ready to send the game to print soon after the campaign is over. Through Artana and its predecessor, Conquistador, we have successfully delivered eight Kickstarter campaigns and know how to quickly and accurately fulfill pledges for our backers.
