I am traveling to Italy to teach English in the Piedmont Region. I am always unbelievably inspired to paint when I travel and experience new things. I want to start a collection of work from this part of the world that will exhibit the incredible virtues of Italy's history and current culture. I will paint art, architecture, and street scenes throughout my journey and complete my paintings when I get home. I am going to have an Art Show at the end of the summer of 2015, and invite you to be a part of the whole experience. Not only will your support provide you with a one of a kind piece of art, but also photos and updates from the journey. I am very excited to be able to partake in another Art Adventure, and invite you to join me!

History as an Artist
As an artist I find that art is much better when there is some way to connect to it. I mean that if there is a personal connection or a story behind it, one can truly get a deeper sense of the painting and its meanings and feel inspired by it. You can join me in connecting with world famous parts of Italy and Italian history as I venture through different cities, churches and museums, and replicate this story through painting. You'll find that it is truly rewarding to participate with me in this project.
In the past I have created different projects that connect with participants.
My first project was called "Light of Your Life." I asked community members to submit a photo of something that meant a lot to them or that brings them joy. I painted the photos in a strikingly colorful way and exhibited them, asking everyone who submitted them to come to the gallery show and participate through dialogue. I chose to paint with large swaths of color because it represents that even very separate looking pieces can come together as a whole. It was a really cool night of meeting different types of people who have different versions of joy in their lives, and whom came together as a community to celebrate these wonderful things. At the end of the evening everyone took their paintings home for free.
My second project was called "Art Adventure." It was done through Kickstarter in 2013. It involved biking the Rocky Mountains and Plein Air Painting throughout the journey. That was so much fun, and it connected many locals to their favorite locations and provided an everlasting painting to rejoice in.
Currently I am in progress with Project 3. It is a show at Bath Garden Center and Nursery that is focusing on Animals and will give 15% of the proceeds to the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program. The show is December 5th through the 8th 2014.
I do projects such as these to provide an inspiring group of art pieces that will only be shown together once in a lifetime. All of the paintings go directly to the owner after the show and are separated through physical distance. The images and the personal experience are all that remain. If you want to be a part of this project, it is important that you join quickly. There will only be a limited amount of time to support me on Kickstarter. I am raising funds beginning November 17, and the campaign will end on December 17.
I am so excited to be able to do this project in such a culturally rich atmosphere. With years of historical inspiration and Renaissance influence, I cant wait for you to see the finished products! You will be very pleased!
The sample image above of the Colosseum is the theme in which I aspire to create the rest of my work. I want to work in slightly muted tones, but still have a dramatic presence. This style aspires to capture the historically rich aspect of these works, as well as the incredible beauty.
Risks and challenges
With this kind of work there are many inherent risks and challenges. I am going to a foreign country to paint and will be bringing home art to show and give to my clients. It is important to note that I will not be plein air painting many of my acrylic, large sized canvases. I will be doing a lot of sketching and taking photos to be able to work on these paintings when I get home when I have the available studio space. With luggage and flying, the logistics of taking that many canvases is just unreal. However, with true sketches in the field, I think that my paintings turn out much better with the chance for revision and improvisation.
Another factor of this project is completing all of the paintings in the amount of time allotted. I feel that as the creator of this project I have given myself enough time and resources to complete the project as stated above. I have a successful past project with a similar forum for you to gauge my reliability as proficient.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
