About this project
SAGA: The Shadow Cabal is an upcoming web series featuring hard-hitting action, massive visual effects, and an expansive and vibrant fantasy universe, paying tribute to the settings and characters created in the video game SAGA (a massively multiplayer online strategy game) and creating a fantasy epic in the style of Sergio Leone’s gritty spaghetti westerns.
We love fantasy films, shows, games and books. We believe that fantasy fans want a higher quality standard of entertainment, and we are dedicated to making films and shows that we and others will love. We are searching for stories that will revolutionize fantasy. There isn't enough great fantasy out there in films and TV, and we are going to remedy that, single-handedly if we have to! Join us and support our cause in helping to create great fantasy films and shows.
The Shadow Cabal follows Keltus, an agent of the Order (the ruling alliance between humans, elves and dwarves), on the trail of an operative of the enigmatic Shadow Cabal. When his leads run cold, he must team up with a tormented elven bounty hunter, Nemyt, to infiltrate the Shadow and try to thwart their nefarious purpose– to unleash the God of the Undead.
Season One features six exciting 5 to 10 minute episodes.
Why a web series?: We usually make feature films, but we wanted a way to connect with fans of the genre in a more personal and social way, and the internet and social media outlets provide that forum. We welcome your comments, suggestions and participation in the unfolding story. You can start by "Liking" us on Facebook.
What we need the money for: Making films is always an expensive endeavor, especially when they are visual effects heavy films. We have most of the budget in place already - what we have already begged, borrowed and stolen - but we need some help off-setting the costs of our VFX. So each dollar you give helps us pay for better, and more, visual effects - a key part of this, and any fantasy series.
We've shot the first episode (which you'll get to see shortly), but we want to shoot the rest and share our exciting story with you.
How Kickstarter works: People pledge an amount and choose a reward. At the end of our 60-day Kickstarter campaign, if the combined total of all pledges for our project meets our $10,000 goal, then the credit cards of those who pledge are charged and we receive the funds to finish our films. If we don't meet our goal, then the money is not withdrawn from your account and no rewards are provided :(. If we exceed our $10,000 goal then the extra funds will be used to make the series even better - so keep pledging! All funds raised are used directly in the finishing of our film series.
The Filmmakers: We're a small group of independent filmmakers who love making movies, and have been at it for about a decade. It's our full-time job, and every film we have made has received worldwide distribution. We do pretty much everything ourselves, from conception to financing to production to securing distribution.
