Back my buddies film!

Hi All,

My good friend and frequent collaborator, Maclain Nelson, has produced a very funny movie and is looking for some finishing funds. It's an irreverent comedy about Vampires and stars Gary Cole (from Pineapple Express) and Julie Gonzalo (from the new Dallas series).

Check out the trailer and please be generous in support if you think it's funny:

    2. Jeff Bunde on July 19, 2012

So, still waiting. Have all the copies shipped? Is there a way we can track them? Just curious.

It'll arrive. Just need to wait for everything to clear. Last week was a nice holiday break for most people. I'm eagerly awaiting my Blu-ray and will be most pleased when it arrives, but I'm making it a point to not get impatient or upset. People work on creative projects such as indie movies, board games, non-mega funded music and graphic novels because they enjoy the creation and the happiness it brings.

They certainly aren't sitting around hoping to upset people because something outside of the control is causing a holdup in the distribution of the project rewards. Another week or two, not a big deal in the grand scheme of life and product. We know that this project is not vaporware (people are receiving it) and we know it is completed (people are receiving it) and we also know that our copies are currently waiting for administrative issues.

Also, project creators tend to help each other out and spread the word about projects. This is the same in the local art communities. It is nothing sinister or ballsy, just the way many creative communities work.

I can't believe they have the balls to ask us to support another project after barely keeping me updated on their own.give me my movie then tell me about your buddies

John, I guess this is where we kindly disagree. I too am a customer of this film by backing it. I would rather have all the information that they know for sure, like from Update #21, than hear them say "We're not sure".
I hope we can both agree that getting updates is the most important thing. If you are running behind schedule let me know, if you're ahead, even better. Just don't keep me updated.

Hoping to see mine here in Australia early in the week.

    9. Shaun Ault on July 7, 2012

John, I too am a customer, I am not associated with this project in any way other than backing it like yourself.

I did not mean to be rude in anyway I merely pointed out that we are waiting for bureaucratic BS which is holding US backers up while everyone else outside of our country already has what they funded..

    10. John Larkin on July 6, 2012

Rich, that's very nice for you. However, as a customer mine is the only opinion that matters to me. Having worked for a Fortune 50 company for the last five years in customer relations has taught me that. Vague words and continued pushbacks leads only to dissatisfaction. Saying "we're not sure" is better than no answer or, even worse, wrong answers.

John, I didn't think Shaun's answer was snippy, it was just the facts. If you read Update #21, dated June 27, it says this...

"US-based backers, we are waiting for the go-ahead from our US distributor. They own the film now, so we are afraid of them... but as soon as their large financial deposit hits the bank (which is supposed to be this week), your stuff will be in the mail. It is all packed up and ready to go."

My reading into that is the deposit probably went in end of June/first week of July. I'm hoping the shipping would start next week (July 9). Just my guess.

I pledged for the Vamp U movie too. Looks funny and extremely well done.

    12. John Larkin on July 6, 2012

Shaun, FYI, that was a kinda snippy response. If you want to continue garnering support from people, maybe work on your Customer Service voice? Just something to think about.

Additionally, do you have any kind of timeline for those of us in the US? Are we looking at ~1 week, ~1 month, or unknown at this time?

When you say it's in the mail we assume you simple air mailed without tracking number?

    18. Shaun Ault on July 6, 2012

answer was in the last update.. if outside the US its in the mail... inside the US we're waiting for political bureaucracy BS from the MPAA

    19. John Larkin on July 6, 2012

So when are we getting the movies we already backed?
