Rising from the forests and rivers of central Wisconsin, Armchair Boogie's high-energy take on the Jamgrass genre fuses intricate arrangements of acoustic guitar and banjo with the funky back beats of electric bass and drums.
We've been playing shows to help you boogie down in cities and towns throughout the Midwest, Rocky Mountains, and West Coast. Now we want to help you boogie down in your living room, your car, on your phone, or wherever you listen to music when you're not at a show.
You may have heard other bands say that the music business is tough, or recording an album is tough. Well they are right. We're not going to sugar coat it. We're broke. So we need your help to fund the next Armchair Boogie album, which you will of course love and enjoy!
First of all we would like to thank all of our fans! We could not have made it this far without your help so we want to extend a special THANK YOU to the boogie community!
What is this all about?
We are in the middle of recording our second album and decided that we want to have the fans be directly involved in that process. Usually a band will sign to a record label, get a fat stinkin cash advance, and hope album sales will be able to pay that back over time, but we don't want to do that. Instead of hoping that your money is directly supporting us why not ensure that it is!
How to Support?
The best way to ensure our new album will be the best that it can be is to contribute here. We have created a wide variety of rewards that you can claim at various pledge levels. Do you want us to play a concert at your house? There's a reward for that. Do you want to join the Boogie community for an album listening party? There's a reward for that. Do you want to be on the album?!? There's even a reward for that!
Also following us on social media is another BIG way to show your support. This way you can keep up with future shows and content!

- $20000: Live Album We'll record and release a Live Album in 2020 and everyone who pledges for the campaign will get a free Digital Download of the Live Album
- $25000: Festival We'll launch a Festival in 2020 and everyone who pledges for the campaign will have exclusive access to discounted early bird tickets for the Festival
Who is Armchair Boogie?
Madison, Wisconsin-based Armchair Boogie plays a progressive hybrid of bluegrass and jam music (“jamgrass,” if you will). Their old-timey sensibilities are married to driving bass and drums, bringing an undeniably funky undertone to a genre normally not described as “funky.”
Augie Dougherty (banjo) and Ben Majeska (acoustic guitar) met in the fall of 2014, trading bluegrass licks on the front porch of their college home in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Both were a part of different projects, but shared a rich love for bluegrass. After only a handful of duo shows, they decided a rhythm section would give them the backbone needed for a bigger live sound.
In summer 2015, Eli Frieders (electric bass) and Dan Waterman (drums) brought the extra kick Armchair Boogie needed to stand out in an already impressive Wisconsin bluegrass scene. The sound refined itself by exploring realms of funk, country, and rock. After two years of progression and touring, Waterman moved to a production role in the band as they welcomed present drummer, Denzel Connor.
Nowadays Armchair Boogie continues touring and climbing their way up notable festival lineups. Having shared the stage with the likes of Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, Dead Horses, Kitchen Dwellers, and more.
Risks and challenges
Well to be frank if we do not meet out goal we will not receive any of the campaign money. So we need your help to share and promote this as much as possible. A little help can go along way!
The money will be going mostly to our audio engineer Jeff Peterson from Lunar Lava Studio who did an amazing job on our first album and is bringing his best work to the new one. We also have to pay to put the album on CDs, hire an artist to design the packaging and liner notes, and cover the costs of promoting the album to the masses!
If we happen to go over our goal then we will be putting that money towards a new boogie vehicle. We have been traveling in a 2008 Honda Odyssey and if you could imagine.... its ROUGH! We have been on three national tours already and plan for many more so a more adequate vehicle is the next step!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
