About this project
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PLEDGED TO HELP MAKE THIS BOOK HAPPEN. IF YOU MISSED OUT ON THE KICKSTARTER, VISIT WWW.HEROESOFHOMEROOMC.COM TO ORDER YOUR COPIES FROM ARISTOCRATS COMICS.
"HEROES OF HOMEROOM C" tells the tale of Nicola and Albert Hathaway, twin 12-year-old, African-American superheroes, who lose their powers and get sent back to public school to try and have a "normal life." But even in the small town paradise of Tranquil, Massachusetts, the kids find themselves caught up in danger and excitement.
In this first volume, Nicola and Albert face off against a young wizard named Damien LeVey. Damien has recently moved to Tranquil, with his mother, following his parents' divorce. The pre-teen sorcerer enacts a desperate plan, filled with dark magic, that he thinks will let him return to live with his father, a not-too-successful west coast supervillain.
Over the course of the story, we learn how the twins deal with the loss of their powers, their new life in suburbia, and suddenly being something other than world famous superheroes. Plus, is one of the twins keeping a deep, dark secret from the other?

ARISTOCRATS COMICS is a Black-owned-and-operated comic book company, founded by Anthony Ruttgaizer, striving to tell exciting stories while promoting diversity amongst both its characters and creators. "Heroes Of Homeroom C" will be the first completely new publication released under the Aristocrats banner.
From Anthony: "The comics and movies I grew up on didn’t feature many characters who looked like me. I think it's important that kids of colour have positive role models, both in real life and in the pop culture they consume. Now that I have a chance to create my own comics, I want to make sure that a wider spectrum of people are on display for readers of all ages and races to identify with and enjoy and aspire to be."
"I also want to encourage kids to read.... ANYTHING. When kids read, they learn. About themselves, about other people and about the world around them. If reading comics encourages them to read in general and learn and grow, then we will all have accomplished something amazing."

Commission Drawings: Anthony will draw any character of your choice. You could even have him draw a portrait of you or a friend as their favourite superhero!
Wholesale Bundles for Retailers: If you're a local comic shop looking for something new and exciting to offer your loyal customers, we have 5 and 10 copy bundles available for you. Plus, we will add your store to our list of loyal retailers on the Aristocrats website!

Plus, you'll get a speaking role in the book, get an Aristocrats t-shirt, a commission drawing but Anthony, and your "thank you" will appear on the Dedication Page at the front of the finished book. Wow! That sounds a lot of stuff!
SPECIAL UPDATE: We have made a second t-shirt style available to our backers and we have a NEW REWARD TIER for people who would just like to buy a shirt as their reward. If your reward tier does not include a shirt but you would like one, just add $20 to your existing package and we will add your choice of shirt to your reward!
Note: Shipping costs for all reward tiers to all locations will be added during checkout. The Library Donation tiers will have slightly higher shipping fees since they involve sending multiple packages to multiple locations.
To celebrate the project reaching full funding (and to encourage more friends and fans to come onboard and make a pledge) we would like to announce our first set of "Stretch Goals". Stretch Goals are little perks and extras that many Kickstarter campaigns add when raising additional funds over and above their initial goals.
$7500 (UNLOCKED) - Everyone receiving a mailable reward package will also receive an Aristocrats Comics bookmark.
$8500 (UNLOCKED) - The previously announced "postcard set" for the "Back-To-School Bundles" will now be a 3-card "trading card set" featuring cards of Albert, Nicola and Damien. If the campaign reaches $8500, we'll double the size of the set to 6 cards!
250 BACKERS - If we reach this goal, Anthony will personally sign everyone's copy of the graphic novel.
$10000 - If the campaign raises this amount, we will add TWO MORE PAGES to the main story, bringing the book up to an incredible 78 pages of story plus extras.
Risks and challenges
Line art for the book is almost complete and colours and letters are underway. Between us, Carlos, Fred and I have created and worked on dozens of comics encompassing hundreds upon hundreds of pages. And Heroes of Homeroom C is the fourth book that I've crowdfunded (one via IndieGoGo and now three via Kickstarter). We are dedicated to putting the finishing touches on the book and fulfilling all our goals in a timely manner.
Our biggest challenge is funding. To reach our funding goal, we need to get this campaign in front of as many eyes as possible. So many readers have been left in the cold by the lack of diversity in mainstream comics. We want to deliver HoHC to them and to anyone who just wants to read a quality all-ages comic book.
Please use the share tools near the top of this page and help spread the word about HEROES OF HOMEROOM C via Twitter, Facebook, e-mail, carrier pigeon, smoke signal, jungle drum, interpretive dance or whatever else is available to you. Even if you can't contribute, you can help make this project successful by telling your family, friends and neighbours that we're here.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
