Frequently Asked Questions
The Sails of Glory Starter Set is a big box, weighing more than 2 kilos and with a size of 40 x 27 x 8.5. The shipping packaging further adds to its weight and volume. The current freight cost actually covers only about 80% of our actual cost, and we are absorbing the rest of the cost. To reduce the impact of freight charges, we introduced several new levels which are very convenient for International backers: the Worldwide Lieutenant, Worldwide Captain, Worldwide Commodore (or Commodore, if you are not interested in optional add-ons).Last updated:
You can pledge at the normal level, with no extra cost for freight. Any reward which is indicated as "includes shipping to any continental US address" is also valid for residents in Alaska and Hawaii.Last updated:
Ares Games is an Italian company. I live in Europe, why the shipment cost to Europe is higher than to a US address?
Ares' offices are in Italy, but our warehouse is located in Ft.Wayne, IN (USA) and all our shipments depart from that location.Last updated:
If you live in Canada, you need to add:
- $ 7 instead of $ 15 for "Gunner" rewards;
- $ 12 instead of $ 25 for "Marine" rewards;
- $ 25 instead of $ 50 for "Mate" rewards;
- $ 30 instead of $ 60 for "Lieutenant" or "Captain" rewards.
No shipping charges need to be added if you are pledging at one of the "Worldwide" levels.
If you are a Canadian retailer, you can also pledge for "Admiral of the Fleet" with a $ 50 shipping cost. Kickstarter only recognizes "US" or "Not in the US", so when you pledge you must click the "I am in the USA" link at the bottom of the page, then add the indicated amount for the freight cost to your normal pledge.Last updated:
Any ship which is listed as a Kickstarter Exclusive will not be reprinted with the same packaging and paint job. It is possible that future ship packs using the same model will use the same game stats, but the Kickstarter version will remain recognizable and unique in its combination of packaging, components and colors.Last updated:
Yes, you can always order multiples of a given pledge level just by multiplying the minimum amount indicated.
You can also order multiples of any optional reward, just by multiplying the cost of the option (and shipping charges where applicable), and adding that amount to your pledge.
We will reconcile all pledges and rewards at the end of the Kickstarter, but we recommend to send us a message when you modify your pledge to indicate the reason of the modification.Last updated:
Are the Victory and Constitution going to be available in general distribution, or are they KS-Exclusive?
They are not exclusives, and it will be possible to find them in stores who normally carry our product range.Last updated:
I am a retailer outside of the USA. Is there a way I can access to the Admiral of the Fleet rewards?
Yes. If you are a Canadian retailer, you can also pledge for "Admiral of the Fleet" with a $ 50 shipping cost. Kickstarter only recognizes "US" or "Not in the US", so when you pledge you must click the "I am in the USA" link at the bottom of the page, then add the indicated amount for the freight cost to your normal pledge.
If you are in any country, and you already import games from the USA, you can pledge indicating "I am in the USA", with no additional cost. We will ship to your freight forwarder at any continental US address.
If this is not the case, we can still service your request, but we will need to assess the freight cost on a case-by-case basis. Just contact us and we will work out a solution together.Last updated:
I am pledging at the Worldwide Lieutenant/Captain/Commodore level. As I have a right to $ 40 of options, may I request the HMS Victory and Constitution option?
No, you must select $ 40 of included rewards (80 if you are a W. Commodore) choosing only among the options shipping in August, together with the main rewards. The HMS Victory/USS Constitution option will only be shipping in January 2014.
You may still add this option on top of your pledge level, of course, adding $ 20 for each ship, plus the appropriate shipping charges ($3 Canada / $ 8 International).Last updated:
I am pledging at the Worldwide Lieutenant/Captain/Commodore level. If I request options with an additional shipping charge, such as Game Mats or Starter Sets, do I have to pay their shipping charges?
Yes. Shipping charges on options still apply. The indicated $ 40 / $ 80 value of options only refers to the objects, not to their shipping charges.
So, for example, you may add 2 more Game Mats ($ 40), but - if you are an International backer - you must still add $ 10 of shipping charges to your pledge.Last updated:
