Role-playing Spell Effects 2.0! Fixing both of the dominant suggestions: Pre-Cut them, and make them Cheaper.
Spell Effects, Raised to the Next Level
We're re-designing our current Spell Effects into a "generic" 3-page set of spells.
Here's the logic: With traditional die-cutting we need to make a custom die for every page. But once we've taken the leap and made the dies, we open new doors - we can nest some shapes inside each other, allowing us to save space, and get even more Spell Shapes into fewer pages. The space savings have allowed us to design a single 3-page layout that covers every shape and size needed for Tabletop Roleplaying.
Better, cheaper, AND pre-cut.... It's a Win-Win for everyone.
We have crammed everything you need into this 3-page spread. Of course, the same Spell Effect can be used to represent dozens of different spells. A 4" Square could be a Faerie Fire, a Web, a Black Tentacles, or a portion of a room that's on fire, but we wanted the graphic and spell text to mirror the most quintessential and evocative spell in each category. In some cases, we had the space to include a second copy of a shape, and make a second graphic. We also insisted on 2 copies of the 8" Circle (20' Radius), allowing 1 to be placed as a terrain effect - and still retain your trusty Fireball.
List of the components, and the graphical theme behind each piece.

* We use the remaining gaps in the plastic for Reference Tokens - a variety of Buffs, Debuffs, and symbolic markers for tracking and convenience purposes. If you don't find them useful, you can throw them away, the plastic would have been wasted anyway, but they can be quite helpful.
** We'll make sure to include at least a 1", 2" and 3" reference to a summoned unit or creature. VERY useful for casters who Wild Shape, Polymorph, or create illusions of different sizes.
This "5E" set is for everyone.
In Tabletop Roleplaying, virtually everyone uses a 5' = 1" scale for battle maps. Spells are usually described in dimensions such as a 15' x 15' cube, or a 20' Radius area.
Whether its a 3-dimensional cube of force, a layer of burning oil on the ground, or a cylinder of fire extending to the heavens - it all boils down to some basic shapes from a game aide perspective. You need Circles, Squares, Cones, some Rectangles and Lines.
Our proposed layout includes 2", 3", 4" and 6" Squares, 2", 4", 6", and 8" Circles, multiple cones, rectangles, and pie markers.
This pack will directly cater to 5E with it's spell selection and spell text, but since we've included every standard shape and size, the exact same spell effects will work for many other Tabletop RPGs.
Roleplaying Spell Effects have double-sided printing, offering us the perfect opportunity to add 'text' to one side of the image, which disappears in the graphic on the other side.
We use this text to list an example spell, with notes that may save you time including the spells range, damage, or other details you may forget. It's a little thing, but it goes a long way, and saves you time while playing. Rather than looking up a critical detail in a book, you can spend that time enjoying your game.
We are a tiny team that designs, manufactures, and ships everything ourselves. We wish to do a clean, tight campaign with a short delivery time.
If we created 2 packs for this campaign, backers who want everything will be waiting for the development, die creation, printing, and cutting of a second pack before they could receive the first pack.
We want this campaign laser focused on getting you these fantastic spell effects as quickly as possible.
Shipping and Costs
All shipments will be USPS Priority Mail, with sheets in a 12x18" Cardboard box. These are light enough that they could go in a bubble mailer and ship first-class, but a considerable amount of packages go missing and the man hours required to harass the USPS in an attempt to hunt them down isn't worth the savings (and defeats the purpose of a micro campaign).
The box will be 15.8 ounces, with a domestic shipping cost of $8 and an international cost of $50, or $38 to Canada/Mexico.
International backers may find this price absurd, and I agree with them, but this is not a price we can control. The First Class International cost is $22.80, and we'd be happy to ship your packages at this rate after the KS campaign ends, through pre-order, via our website at a later date, etc.
Shipping for Multiple Copies
You can simply add +$30 for each additional set. There is no increase in shipping costs domestically.
Is this project EU-Friendly?
We will absolutely ship to the EU.
However, we do not have any EU-based manufacturers for our products, nor an EU distributor, nor a method in place to pre-ship your packages to the EU and pay the VAT taxes and customs, and then re-ship to you to avoid courier fees and VAT for you.
Backers in the EU need to be prepared to pay any VAT and courier fees associated with receiving shipments from the USA, or wait until after the campaign and use an alternate shipping method.
Risks and challenges
Roleplaying Spell Effects already exist. They're already the premier Spell Effect solution on the market. They're gorgeous, with quality transparency printing, double sided art, spell text, and great variety. So all that "work" is done. The added steps to improve the project aren't "risky", but they are somewhat costly. More importantly, if the audience doesn't want these improvements, we shouldn't be focusing our time and energy making this a priority.
The die-creation process may require us to rearrange some items, but we have made far more complicated dies than the ones designed for this project. This shouldn't be a problem.
Shipping, especially international shipping, is always a plague on the bottom line success of a project. By requiring Priority Mail (insurance, so shipments don't go missing), and streamlining all shipments to a single packaging method, we believe we can streamline this issue. Of COURSE we'll make additional shipping methods and cost-saving options available in the future, it's just not something that needs to be solved 'wave 1' of this product going out.
Arcknight juggles multiple projects at a time. We move forward with a project when we believe all of it's development is ready, at least to the point that the holdup is funding / gauging audience demand. If this project is successful it means you want it. If it's not successful, we shouldn't be wasting our time on it, and if it's wildly successful we need to commit more time and resources to expanding it.
