About this project
Sigils of Ruin is an expansion for Eschaton.
Before the great battle at the end of days, each player chooses one of six special characters to act as champion for their cult deck. This champion will play alongside other cultists, but will influence the overall play style of the deck in a direction defined by the champion’s affiliation.
Partnered with each champion is a corresponding avatar. Through the ritual invocations based on their champion’s affiliation, a cult will eventually be able to summon their avatar to join their deck. These avatars are not only powerful characters, but the direct path to the Sigils of Ruin.
Once the avatar has served their purpose on the mortal plane, they can be sacrificed to channel the cult’s corresponding sigil. When conjured, these sigils are immovable auras that bestow their cult with unique abilities and victory conditions. Although no two paths are the same, they each demand equal favor from the Dark One.
The Plaguebearer champion revels in filth and decay. Through conjuring new plagues in the realm he seeks to invoke the Avatar of Malady. With his wretched avatar by their side, his cult of plaguebearers ensures that no territory is left untainted. When the bodies are piled high across the realm, the avatar of malady is cut from the mortal plane like a festering tumor. Through his death, he manifests the Sigil of Plagues. His chosen cult thrives in the death and decay. Wherever they rally in the realm, so too does the unholy sickness. The Dark One smiles upon the consuming death and the Plaguebearers favor for the extent of the infection.
The champion of the accursed revels in the corruption of the realm. Through conjuring curses upon her foes she draws upon the power of the Avatar of Corruption. Partnered with her avatar, no cult escapes their oppressive grasp. In a frenzy of malevolence the avatar’s sacrifice conjures the Sigil of Corruption allowing the cult leader to feed upon the misfortune of rival cults. With every curse cast the cult grows more powerful in their conquests, influence, and mastery of the arcana. As the corruption chokes the realm, the Dark One casts his favor toward the Accursed.
Herald to the Dark One’s will, the Maelstrom champion is the arbiter of the Dark One. Every Edict enacted by this champion calls to the Avatar of Chaos. As a conduit of the Dark One’s blind fury they force his chaotic edicts upon the realm. Consumed in the endless maelstrom, the avatar’s sacrifice conjures the Sigil of Chaos. With the sigil in place, the cult becomes a catalyst for the manifestation of disorder in the realm. Effortlessly, the Maelstrom cult displaces and destroys the denizens of the realm through the Dark One’s edicts.
While most would overlook the material treasures of the Arcana, the Forge champion hordes these relics from every corner of the realm. The glimmering allure of every artifact in his trove draws the Avatar of the Forge further through the breach. For the power infused into these relics, the Forge cult scours the Arcana. Drowned in their material acquisitions, the sacrifice of the avatar conjures the Sigil of Plunder. This gift of sacrifice bestows upon the cult champion the ability to effortlessly draw upon the intrinsic power of the relics that he has amassed.
Primal in his path, the Bloodborne champion is a master of death. He seeks to summon the Avatar of Carnage through the enchanted blood spilled in the sacrifice of fledging acolytes. Drenched in the blood of the fallen, the Avatar of Carnage rises to carve a bloody swathe across the realm. Inevitably this revelry in death bestows the avatar with her own end in the pyre. When she passes from this realm the Avatar of Carnage conjures the Sigil of Finality. Brandishing this sigil the avatar leads the children of the pyre to combat in the realm, every sacrifice bolstering their resolve.
Master of the seas, the champion of the Tidebreakers rallies the bravest of warriors as a blunt instrument to shatter the realm. Through the initiation of ruthless maruaders the Tidebreakers demonstrate their resolve to the Avatar of Tides. From the seas, this mythic beast rises to drown the realm in the Dark One’s smothering cruelty. The sacrifice of this titan brings with it the Sigil of Storms. The cult becomes more at home on the cruel seas than anywhere else in the realm. Flawlessly they navigate the unforgiving waters, launching devastating precision assaults against rival cults.
To further demonstrate their dedication to the Dark One, the cults have begun raising fortresses across the realm. These bastions of evil are erected by dominant cults in territories to further assert their dominance and earn further favor in the end of days. Fortresses help hold territories against rival cults, but are also at risk of being besieged and converted. They are pivotal points for victory in the realm.
As the flames of the end grow ever higher, so too does a new force in opposition to the Dark One. The ‘holy’ inquisitor army spawns with the turning of new events. With every chime of the doomsday clock, they march across the realm converting and slaughtering any cult that stands in their way.
The Dark One offers Unholy gifts to cultists that rally to his cause. These hand-made add-ons are available to all backers of Sigils of Ruin.
When making your pledge, adjust your contribution to reflect which add-ons you would like to add to your order. Upon the conclusion of the Kickstarter, mark the option for which add-ons you've chosen in the backer survey.
With this Kickstarter we have decided to use Backerkit to manage shipping costs. What this means is that your pledge will not include any of the costs of shipping the game and must be paid for after the campaign concludes. The major benefit of this is you pay only for the shipping you need, and nothing more.
As of right now, this is what shipping prices look like. These prices are completely out of our control and may change at any time. Shipping may not include customs fees. If there are sufficient backers from a specific country, reduced shipping rates may be available.
