About this project
Eschaton is a strategy game driven by a deck-building mechanic. All players begin with the same basic cult (deck) and an equal presence on the realm map. As the game progresses, each player utilizes the evil Influence of their existing Cultist cards to initiate new Cultists into their deck as they seek to earn the most Points of Favor from the Dark One. These Cultists carry different specialties: some are masters at arms, others strong wielders of arcane magics, and others provide even greater Influence to recruit stronger members.
Each player’s deck will perform differently depending on the path of initiation that player chooses throughout the game.Your most powerful Cultists will create dynamic game play and give you a knife-sharp edge against your opponents. The less powerful? That’s what that sacrificial pyre is for . . . .
While each cult leader musters their ranks and the decks begin to grow, players wage battle across the realm on the Realm Map. Taking and holding territories across the Map is the duty of Cultists proficient in the Aggression attribute. As territories trade bloody hands, the map dynamically affects turn play as well as Points of Favor at the end of the game.
Players may also choose to unleash vile Plagues upon their opponents’ realms in even dirtier combat. Hold the most territories in your ruthless grasp to prove your dedication to the Dark One, but do not allow your quest for earthly power to be your undoing . . . .
Decks can be strengthened even further with special cards from the Arcana Deck. Players may initiate Cultists with a strong knowledge of Divination to help them uncover the secrets of this powerful deck. Drawing magical Relics, Edicts, and Auras into hand provides unique deck enhancements that help players conquer and recruit even faster. Truly fortunate cult leaders may even summon a demonic Fiend to their ranks!
No game of Eschaton will ever play the same way twice. Game length is set by a semi-randomized deck of Event and Omen cards. Each turn, an Event card is put into play that affects all players, and can turn the tide of the game on a dime. At random intervals, these events will represent Omens of the coming Apocalypse, and carry with them orders from the Dark One Himself. Each cult leader must rally their ranks to be the player who meets this unholy demand and earns extra Point of Favor before the next sign of the end times is at hand. It is only a matter of time before all events are written in the book of time, though. And once Armageddon falls, the final reckoning is at hand.
Earn the most Points of Favor before the end of the world, and your cult will sit at the right hand of the Dark One for all of eternity. Be one of the lesser cults, and . . . well, the Dark One isn’t known for his sympathy.

Risks and challenges
Due to the confines of the mortal realm we at Archon Games are subject to the unfortunate chronological setbacks associated with reality. It is our goal to have the game shipped to all of you brave enough to support our campaign between November and December of 2016, but as with all things, there is the chance that some outside force may work against our ambitions. Try as we may, the hands of production companies, parcel handling services, and the forces of nature will stand between you and us in the end. Trust that we will do everything in our power to ensure that our schedule is met, but know that sometimes things do not go quite as planned.
Everything else in regards to the production of Eschaton is handled in house at the Archon Fortress. Barring raiding hordes of crusaders, an unforeseen inquisition, or the will of angry gods nothing else will stand in our path.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
