Archive is a non-profit organization based in Berlin. It is a space for cultural research and debate, for transdisciplinary and intersectional thinking. A place to care for each other, to unlearn, to reformulate, to voice, to research together, to imagine new forms of organizational practices at the crossroad of art and activism.
Archive is composed of four interconnected parts: Archive Books, a publishing house that produces journals on contemporary culture as well as monographs and artists’ books. Archive Kabinett, a space for exhibitions, seminars, lectures, film screenings and dinners. Archive Journal, a newspaper published in relation to Archive’s activities and subjects of interest. Archives Appendix, a design department that brings a conceptual approach to the relationship between text and image.
Our experience is grounded in our role as publishers, within the practice of “making public” and an understanding of the role of publishing as an act of mediation. We are informed by the nature and implications of filtering and amplifying a given content, and the potentiality of these two movements as a transformative action.
Our program focuses on collaborative and process-driven approaches to production, attempting to transcend boundaries and open discussions for new models of knowledge distribution.
As well as our work on contents, we are working towards building and consolidating a network of alliances, both at home and abroad. Our aim is to continue to grow ties with our local communities, cultivate long-term relationships with groups and individuals, while at the same time resonate with international entities that share our views and ideas on the urgency of creating an infrastructure of self-determined spaces.
– Release a new series of selected writings voicing authors that are reflecting on subjects crucial for the understanding of today’s struggles.
– Initiate a free school of publishing devised as a space to imagine new models of production and distribution of knowledge.
– Establish a research and writing residency for authors to develop new works in dialogue with Archive editors.

If we do not reach our funding goal, you will not be charged for your pledge. In case we do, we will work with our team on getting in touch with you soon after about sending the items out to you and planning those rewards that require further organisation.
We are drawing on many years of experience in graphic design, editing, printing and organizing and hosting hundreds of performances, talks and other events. We are well set up for planning and preparing the rewards with you.
