Dear friends and backers,

Shane Ivey here from Arc Dream Publishing. Voting has begun in the 2014 Ennie Awards. We are thrilled that our Call of Cthulhu campaign The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man is up for an award. Please vote “1″ for Sense in the Best Adventure category.

And don’t overlook all the nominations for our Cthulhu Mythos compatriots at Pelgrane Press (Trail of Cthulhu and Ken and Robin Talk About Stuff), Modiphius Entertainment (Achtung! Cthulhu), Reality Blurs (tremulus), and of course Chaosium (Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Quickstart).

This is an open ballot so anyone can participate, and every last vote matters. Cast your vote now! And thank you again for supporting The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man.

About The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man

"This document is the best I’ve seen on the Dreamlands. It keeps the Dreamlands mysterious and fantastic while at the same time underscoring the horrific and terrible nature of the realm. Too many depictions I’ve read either play up the place like a pure fantasy land, akin to Melibone or Hyperborea, in order to interject some lightheartedness into the mythos, or focus solely on the horrific aspects of things like the gugs or moonbeasts. Instead the authors develop both aspects equally, never letting the wonder and horror overpower the other overall. Individual moments within the campaign will emphasize one or the other, but the aggregate demonstrates the horror in beauty and the wonder of terror."

—Larry H., DriveThruRPG

The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man was written and illustrated by award-winning game designer Dennis Detwiller after its funding at Kickstarter, and I edited it and laid it out myself. It was a huge project. We’ve created plenty of Lovecraftian horror with Delta Green and each new issue of The Unspeakable Oath, but the Dreamlands are very much their own kind of weird fiction. We set out to present a full campaign that retains the stark risks and dread of Call of Cthulhu within the Dreamlands — that strange realm where events often move around the player characters and where sometimes their very imagination changes reality. The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man is an epic dream-quest for your Investigators, filled with unique wonders and terrors.

Hi folks, Shane Ivey here from Arc Dream Publishing. Dennis Detwiller and I were thrilled to learn today that The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man has been nominated for an Ennie Award for Best Adventure! This book would not exist without your support. Thank you!

And please join us in congratulating all of this year's nominees. Even more than most years, the 2014 ballots are like a Who's Who of our favorite people.

Voting for the winners begins July 20 and will be open to all. Please vote for Sense!

And did you know that Role Playing Public Radio has started posting full-length recordings of their run of Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man? The first three episodes are online now. Enjoy.

Paperback and hardback

The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man has been shipping for a couple of weeks and is  arriving in backers' trembling hands even now.

On top of that, we just sent the link for backers to order it in hardback if they wish. That's an option for all backers at the $25 pledge level on up -- they can get the hardback at the minimum manufacturing and shipping cost for ordering it straight from the printer.

If you're a backer at those levels and you don't get an email with the link, please contact so we can sort it out.

Thanks again for supporting The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man. We hope you enjoy it!

Nightmares now shipping

"The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man" has been shipping from our warehouses for about a week now so it ought to be reaching backers in the US and overseas any day now. We're very happy to have it out the door and in your hands and uneasy dreams at last.

For the rest of the week I (Shane Ivey) am in Rhode Island for NecronomiCon Providence, but after that we'll be hard at work at our next horrors: The Unspeakable Oath 24 (issue 23 will start shipping in a few days), next year's Delta Green roleplaying game, a Delta Green card game that we brainstormed at GenCon, and a new Delta Green fiction anthology that we'll open up at Kickstarter very soon.

We hope you and your fellow players have plenty of sleepless nights thanks to the Sleight-of-Hand Man.

Format options

As you saw in yesterday's update, due to sharply rising costs we're having to deliver a paperback printing for The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man rather than the hardback we originally planned. Today we want to make a few more options available for backers who have their hearts set on the hardback.

REFUNDS: First and foremost, let me reiterate that we will honor a refund request of any amount. If we have a lot of refund requests, they might me take a couple of weeks to process and pay, so please be patient. We will fulfill them.

THE HARDBACK: We'll send to every Backer who has a pledge of $25 or more a coupon to get a hardback version from OneBookShelf at the base manufacturing cost plus shipping and handling.

By my estimates, "Cost + S/H" for the hardback will total about $18 in the US, about $25 in the UK, or about $30 to $40 everywhere else. Those are my rough estimates based on OBS' manufacturing price plus the figures I have for US mail postage (if yours is printed in their US plant) or Royal Mail postage (if it’s printed in their UK plant). OBS' actual S+H charge may be different.

THE PAPERBACK: If you’re in any of the Dead Tree Edition tiers ($40 US and UK, $45 Europe and Canada, $50 elsewhere), we’ll send you the paperback (or bring it to GenCon) unless you tell us otherwise. You will also get the coupon for the hardback at cost.

I apologize again for changing our printing plans. We offered a 128-page hardback and we're instead delivering a 296-page paperback. I hope we can arrange things to your satisfaction despite the change.

Thank you for your support.
