Update on Detroit Hye Times Project
Good day backers!
I wanted to provide you a quick update as to where I am in the entire documentary process since the Kickstarter projected ended.
The Miami Foundation is in the process of validating the funds the total funds I have sent ($12k) so that they can let the Knight Foundation know I have met the obligations of the challenge grant and can release the hold of the other $12k. Again, nothing is sent to me, but as a fiscal sponsor, they control the funds and I submit invoices as the film project progresses and they pay them for me. It works out great.
I am in the process of still researching musicians and gathering photos and other memorabillia which is a long process. You dont want to leave out musicians from the heyday of this music and sometimes a musician here or there pop up that may have played music in Detroit that I want to get information on for possible inclusion. I am trying to cover as many musicians (at least in photo form) as best as I can.
A script needs to be composed, which is something I am also working on right now. This is proving to be the hardest part as it isnt my cup of tea. Luckily I have an awesome wife that is a professional journalist and has written shooting scripts in the past - so she has been my guide through this. Once this is completed -- I can start the film the documentary. I am still hoping for this summer to film.
Last night I gave a presentation at the Novi Public Library here in Michigan. The topic covered the film project and I had a great crowd in attendance. By all accounts I think they liked it. Many commented afterwards and even offerred me some additional leads.
Thats all for now, I keep plugging away at the script mainly and will be happy when I complete this phase.
Thanks for reading!
