Ara Topouzian is an Armenian musician that plays the Kanun, an ancient laptop harp with over 76-strings from Armenia and the Middle East. His music is heard in over thirty recordings along with several documentary soundtracks. In 2012, Ara was awarded the prestigious Kresge Artist Fellowship for the Performing Arts in Michigan. In 2013, Ara was awarded the Knights Art Challenge in order to produce a documentary that will preserve the heritage of Armenian-American musicians in Detroit.
