The Art of Aqualumina features both a 100+ page anthology collection and a gallery exhibit, selected from works of over 300 artists worldwide, collected over a 2-year period. The gallery reception will be held in Los Angeles, at Gallery Nucleus, for fans who would like a chance to meet the artists, attend panels, and pick up merchandise.
Water is the common bond that unites all living things on the most atomic level—artists were invited to create works that celebrate and explore the different facades of the building-block that jump-started life as we know it. From killer mermaids to adorable juice boxes, the artworks we received were absolutely stunning and creative to the core—and we can't wait to share them!
To commemorate two years of hard work and beautiful creations, we are featuring a selection from Aqualumina's massive collection in this year's gallery and publication.
To bring this project to life, we will need your support! All the funds raised will be used to create the most awesome aquatic-themed gallery exhibit and merchandise collection ever! From extra open source resources for the artists, to additional merchandise for the fans, to clean water at a remote village in Ecuador, your help will be vital in transforming ideas into reality.
To see a sneak-peak of all the going-ons here at Aqualumina, find us at #Aqualumina on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram!
Set in a world-renowned location, and featuring a combination of Western and Eastern contemporary artworks from world-wide artists, AQUALUMINA X NUCLEUS gallery exhibit will highlight the hearts of creative minds who wish to touch the community through their works.
The date and venue for the exhibit have already been booked! Your help in this Kickstarter will pay for the rest—from framing and printing to additional events such as artist meet & greets, book & print signings, artist panels, photo op locations, and a mouth-watering snack bar!

The Aqualumina Artbook is concentrated creative goodness: Condensed to over 100 pages, formatted to professional perfection, and featuring full-size illustrations, tutorial and walk-throughs, and a treasury of concept snapshots.
The best part? This is a not-for-profit project, so the funds raised through Kickstarter will be put into making the gallery as stunning as possible, putting out more content, and compensating the artists and participants who have worked so hard to make this project a reality. All of the artworks and merchandise featured in the packages were designed and selected with the greatest attention and care, so reserve a copy and be a part of the new wave of artists and art appreciators to reinvent art to inspire more beauty in the world!
Aqualumina is an open project aimed to provide artists with a simple, no-hassle platform to produce content and value for causes we all care about. Whether it be a 10-minute pen sketch, a short story, or a full-scale painting, Aqualumina will help artists turn their creations into tangible good vibes in the world.
On each of the project's social media platforms, the Aqualumina team is constantly posting new inspirations, original artworks, and creative challenges for artists and followers to enjoy and partake in. Everyone is invited to join this voyage, and the project is constantly evolving, but here is a brief snapshot of the Aquateam as we know it today:
Founded in 2014 by two friends, Xinwei Huang and Vivian Zou, Aqualumina is managed by 6 core staff members, with additional support from skill-based and event-specific volunteers. The team has combined experience in project management, event-planning, online marketing, analytics, and organizing the acclaimed Kingdom Carousel project in 2012.
Over 300 artists around the world have now signed up to join Aqualumina, and have been contributing to the growth of the project by submitting unique artworks—all threaded by a common theme, water. You may recognize some familiar faces:
As the Kickstarter continues, we will be featuring more artists! A full list of all gallery exhibitors and published artists will be available as we get closer to gallery opening!
We can do it!
All funds raised by this campaign will first go into securing the printing, framing, catering, decoration, and general prep of gallery, then printing the books and producing rewards and merchandise outlined.
We want to reward our artists for a job done well—so with your support, our artists can receive special editions of the book, Aqualumina staff-exclusive t-shirts, as well as merchandise gift packs of their choice.
Profit from reach goals and goods sold at external venues will go towards compensation for published and contributing artists, making additional books and merchandise, creating encore gallery experiences, and—most important of them all—provide support to Water.org in their wonderful mission to bring clean water and sanitation to hundreds of millions people world-wide.
All of the merchandise and artworks were designed and selected with the uttermost care and dedication to ensure the best quality, and we have even more, bigger, better things planned for future campaigns! None of these goals can be realized without your help- so please lend us your support (and get some awesome merch in the process) in bringing The Art of Aqualumina to life!

Risks and challenges
With all the deadlines set before the publication of our Kickstarter, we have prepared almost everything ahead of time.
Our gallery exhibit deadlines are locked in, and we are currently in contact with a variety of vendors for the merchandise and add-ons so we can get them produced ASAP after Kickstarter ends. We've also heard back from the publisher for our book and quotes for all the upgrades, so we're ready to go!
This is our first Kickstarter project, so there might crop up new things we haven't accounted for. But, we've had a successful project (Kingdom Carousel) under our belt, so we will definitely make sure you get everything that you've pledged for in a timely manner!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
