About this project
Times are hard on your emu ranch. Not only do you have to replace a ranch hand after the unfortunate “incident” in the emu pen, your neighbor just decided to get into the emu ranching business. In head-to-head, emu vs. emu competition, you must round up your mob of emus (that’s a herd!) and beat out your opponent before he can get a toehold in your business.
In this adaption of the classic Emu Ranchers card game from the Decktet, you want to beat your rival rancher by raising the most profitable mob of emus. The rancher with highest profit after the chosen number of rounds is the winner.
It’s an easy game to learn and play, but don’t be fooled by the simple gameplay. You’ll quickly realize the depth of strategy in Emu Ranchers. It’s a fun game of keeping your options open, taking risks, and seeing the same cards in a new light. To win, you’ll find yourself wanting to hold cards for a better play, but having to play cards so you don’t get stuck.

Combined, we have 39 years of professional experience. Risks and challenges
There are always a lot of details, too, for producing a game, manufacturing all the parts, and getting it all shipped out the door. We’ve been working hard to stay ahead of the challenges so we can make it the best experience for you, our supporters.
For the physical game, we face the intricacies of getting the card sets printed, boxed up and shipped. With our professional experience in graphic design, we’ve worked with printers before. To make sure we can deliver on our commitment, we’ve already printed dozens of prototype decks with our rough art using a vendor that we know can manufacture thousands of decks when it comes time for our production fulfillment.
For the electronic game, most of our challenges lie in the programming because Apple and Google handle the worldwide distribution. Like our experience with print projects, we’ve also delivered apps for both iOS and Android for our clients as part of our day jobs, so we’re familiar with the technology to create great apps. To make sure we could build something that will perform to our expectations, before we even launched this Kickstarter project, we created a working tech prototype. Using that prototype as the starting point, we’ll be scaling up to meet the demands of a full game.
As with any project, unexpected challenges can arise in addition to the usual challenges. As we state in our pledge above, we promise to keep you informed as things progress, and we’ll let you know if anything unexpected arises and how we’ll be addressing it.
