Our Education Campaign

Dear Friends,

A Place to Stand will finally be released this year – both for general audiences and educators. As you know, this has been a labor of love for more than 6 years so far and it wouldn’t have been possible without all of you and our team of committed filmmakers and artists.

We know we have something special on our hands, but without your continued support, the film won’t go very far. We still don’t have a big distributor or studio behind us. We still don’t have big money – none of us have made a financial profit on this project. All we have is sweat and determination and passion. That’s why we’re fundraising again – and we need your support to help fund our educational campaign.

At this point, it's is not about supporting a film, but rather the people who need to see it. In this world of increasing negativity, we need to know that stories like Jimmy’s exist. Jimmy is a powerful role model for populations that don’t have many role models: incarcerated individuals, adolescents on the edge, and others impoverished and neglected by society.

Our aim now is simple - to get the documentary and our educational curriculum into as many schools and prisons as possible. Our fundraising campaign is specifically to support this mission.

One by one, person-by-person, step-by-step, we will get this film out there. This final campaign – during our film’s release – is our biggest hope and chance to make a real difference with our movie. Please help us, visit our Indiegogo campaign, share it with your networks, and donate.

And as we've said a million times before, thank you, thank you, thank you. We wouldn't have made it this far without you.

With Profound Gratitude,

Daniel Glick and Gabe Baca
Director and Producer, A Place to Stand

Indiegogo Ho!

Hello Friends,

We'll keep this brief, but we wanted to share what's going on with us. We know it's been awhile since we've written.

Our main news to report is that this year, 2016, is the year for distribution. This year we will definitely release A Place to Stand digitally, on DVD and for educational use. (phew - about time, right?)

In this effort, what's most important for us is the educational work - getting the film to schools, jails and to at-risk youth - but doing that is as labor-intensive as making the movie itself. So in just over a week, we'll be launching a month-long Indiegogo campaign to make our educational work successful. It will allow us to take this journey to a satisfying and successful close.

We are looking for allies to help support this effort - to join our team, spread the word, and help us reach the audiences we want to reach. Are you available and interested? You'd be working with us, the film team, directly to make our campaign a success.

If you're interested, please respond to this message or email us at

With Gratitude,
The A Place to Stand Team

Theatrical Release

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We’re on our way! With Gathr Films, our theatrical distribution partner, we now have over a dozen public screenings in the works (

If you didn’t see our last update, we’ve launched a theatrical-on-demand campaign where you can request a screening of your film at your hometown movie theater. It’s very easy to request one. Once it’s been set up, it’s only a matter of doing some online rallying-of-the-troops to buy tickets ahead of time, which we will help with. You can visit for more information.

If you’re interested, please sign up! We still need your help to get the film out there. Please request a screening today! (or get in touch with us if you have any questions)

Upcoming Screenings

Here are some upcoming screenings. Please spread the word!

November 11, 13, 14 and 15 - Napa Valley Film Festival –

November 17 – Montclair, NJ -

November 30 – December 3 – The Guild Cinema, Albuquerque, NM

December 3, 2015 – New York City -

Digital Downloads

Finally, we want to acknowledge that we haven’t yet delivered our digital downloads of the movie and movie soundtrack. This is because we’re currently seeking digital distribution (to allow people to buy/rent the movie online) and we don’t want to hurt our chances with a distributor. This was something we didn’t foresee when we first promised this reward and we apologize for being so late on this. We hope to deliver these rewards soon.

Once again, thank you for your ongoing support. It’s been a great journey so far and we’re looking forward to what comes next!

With Continued Gratitude,
The A Place to Stand Team

Please Help Us Host a Screening!

Hello All,

The time is finally here! A Place to Stand is available for public and university screenings and we need your help to bring the film to your town or city!

We have partnered with Gathr Films to launch a theatrical-on-demand campaign where you can sign up to bring the film to your local movie theater. It's a grassroots-style theatrical campaign where you can become a "movie captain" and work to fill the theater with ticket pre-sales. Here's a short video that explains the campaign:

Creating the movie is only half the battle. If we don't distribute it successfully, then it doesn't matter how good the film is - people won't see it. And this is our opportunity to bring the film to communities in a big way.

Can you help us and become a movie captain? Do you know anyone or any organization that might also be interested? If you volunteer, we'll support you in making your screening a success with plenty of tools and resources. Please visit for more information.

You can also email us at and talk with us about joining the theatrical team. Thanks again, so much, for all of your support, and thanks for considering.

With Gratitude,
Daniel, Gabe & Karen
