Send Chocolate & Marlboros

Hello Again,

We've got some more good news about A Place to Stand. We've just completed the Spanish subtitles for the film so we'll soon be working to get the film into South and Central America. If you know of any Spanish-speakers who might be interested in the film, please let us know!

Beyond that, we want to invite you to check out a Kickstarter campaign that our director of photography, Michael Gordon, is running. It shares some themes with A Place to Stand - redemption, courage, finding a place to stand through passion and purpose, and features Simpsons actor Pamela Hayden (Millhouse!). You can check it out here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/258911212/send-chocolate-and-marlboros.

As our film does, that story has the potential to deeply impact lives for the positive so we encourage you to check it out and consider contributing.

Thanks again for everything,
The A Place to Stand Team

Bringing A Place to Stand into Prisons

Hello Friends,

Well, it's been a couple of years since we finished A Place to Stand and a few months since we released it into the world. What's new?

First, and most importantly, WE'RE NOW GIVING THE FILM AWAY FOR FREE TO ANYONE WHO WILL COMMIT TO A SCREENING IN A PRISON OR DETENTION CENTER. Yes, that's right, if an organization or an individual or an institution commits to screening the film on the inside, we'll give them a free DVD. So please tell anyone you know who might be interested in this opportunity! Just email us at aplacetostand.outreach@gmail.com and we'll make it happen. (Important: This is only for prisons and jails. For any settings outside of prisons - schools, community centers, etc - you'll have to go through our educational distributor, The Video Project, here: http://www.videoproject.com/a-place-to-stand.html.)

Beyond that cool news, we had a surprise selection to one final film festival - Awareness Film Festival in LA. This will be the last time (for a while, at least) you'll be able to see the film in a theater. So if you're in LA on October 11th, please come out! And please tell your friends. Here's the link for tickets: awarenessfestival.org/screening/a-place-to-stand/.

Thanks again for all of your help. The film continues to get a great response and we're very proud of all it's done so far.

With Continued Gratitude,
Daniel

It's Out! (or: Holy Cow, What a Ride!)

And hooray! We took that photo while we were shooting the opening shot of A Place to Stand - a time-lapse of an Albuquerque sunset over the city. That photo best represents what we're feeling now because three days ago, on Friday June 17th, A Place to Stand was finally, finally, finally released to the world.

I know we've said "we're excited!" about a thousand times by now, but, by golly, we are still very excited. Next to completing the film, this is the biggest milestone in our journey. The film is now available for rent or purchase via iTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/a-place-to-stand/id1109110672 - and in the next weeks, it will be available in 20 other places. (For those of you still due a digital download of the film, rest assured that it's still coming. We'll send a direct link to your email address in a few weeks.)

It's also available for educators, schools and institutions via The Video Project - http://www.videoproject.com/a-place-to-stand.html.

We do have two favors to ask.

Would you be willing to one, write a review of the film on iTunes? And two, share that iTunes link with your friends, family and social media networks? We don't have much of a marketing budget so still do need word-of-mouth support to help share this with the world. Anything you can do to help would be amazing.

Thanks again for everything and for being patient with us on this long, wild ride.

With Gratitude,
The A Place to Stand Team
