Over 40% There in 24 Hours! Hats On to All of You.

One of the best things about working on this Kickstarter is the fact I get to see and hear your enthusiasm for our anthology. Behind the scenes, our authors are also super excited, and they're thinking of ways to show you how much they appreciate your support. From deep discussions into their critical examination of tropes to fun photos, we hope you'll indulge our efforts to say "Thank you!"

Since we're officially past the 24-hour mark, I'd like to take the opportunity to share an idea we cooked up. Here's the story behind "Hats on to you!"

Hats on!

Due to the wonders of alphabetical order, authors Nisi Shawl and Ferrett Steinmetz are pictured side-by-side in our Kickstarter photo, each wearing a fedora. This, of course, sparked a discussion about wearing hats and if we could work that concept into our Kickstarter. After all, many of us wear hats in both a metaphorical and literal fashion.

Thanks to Sunil Patel's keen observation, we realized that photos of us wearing hats would express "Hats on to you!", and this visibly supports the concept for our anthology. After all, Upside Down: Inverted Tropes in Storytelling is filled with stories that are intended to challenge the idea of using tropes and cliches in direct and subtle ways. By sharing pictures of ourselves with hats, we'll be inverting the idiom "Hats off to you!" as a way to show our respect, admiration, and kudos. Hats on to you, dear backers. Hats on to you!

To kick off this photo series and today's milestone, this hat-themed pic is a silly one of my office manager, Lord Lardbottom. (So named due to him being a polydactal manx.) He's supposed to be capturing the mouse, but oh no! Looks like the mouse has him pinned. :-)

My next update will be a strange one... Hopefully you like spiders as much as we do!

Cute update. I love the hat theme.

Not fond of spiders at all. Some might call it a phobia.
