The Last Push!
It's been a wild 30 days and here we are down to the last 24 hours.
Where we are:
Our next stretch goal:
This stretch goal isn't backer oriented. It is intended to reward our anthology contributors with an increase in pay. Our writers will receive another penny a word. Our artists will see a bit extra. Our copy editor will be paid more. Virtually every dollar received toward this stretch goal will reward the hardworking folks who will help make this an amazing book.
At $28000 we give our contributors another injection of money. Writers will be paid 8 cents a word. Anything beyond that will go toward marketing and promotion. $28000 is my personal goal. I know it's a reach, but the enthusiasm for the book is high, so it's possible.
At $50000, we will immediately plan a second volume of Do Not Go Quietly. This will probably require a rich benefactor. Are there any out there? :)
I leave you with a gift: Sarah Waites' final resistance essay "Ma Boyong's 'City of Silence'".
Sarah says it all at the close of her essay:
Keep reading and writing. Such simple acts are not futile; they are vital. A better future cannot be created without them.
