About this project

**P.S. If you give to the project, send me an email and let me know sizes, address etc.! anton [at] deliberateindustries dot com.

I’m headed to Bolivia to make a short documentary about my cousin, Dr. Heather Mickelson (Heather “Mick” in Bolivia – easier to say in Spanish). Heather has been living in Bolivia as a missionary, practicing pediatric Chiropractic, teaching nutrition and the Bible for about six years.

My goal as a filmmaker, is to tell the story of Heather’s work in such a compelling way that it opens viewers’ eyes, from all kinds of backgrounds, to the healing power of God through chiropractic. Heather has many stories of children with learning disabilities and mental disabilities growing by leaps and bounds while she has been treating them. I hope to capture a few of these stories, along with Heather’s commentary on her daily life in Bolivia, what chiropractic means to her and how God is using her on mission there. It is my goal to dispel some myths about both missionaries and chiropractors in one fell swoop by creating an emotionally compelling and beautifully photographed story about a very unique Christian chiropractor.

My costs on this trip are actually quite cheap considering the distance that I’ll be traveling and the amount of film gear needed to make this documentary. The plane ticket is the single largest expense at roughly $1,200. Insurance on the film gear that I own (roughly ten thousand in gear) will cost about $500 (+ $500 deductible if anything happens). I've rented about $500 in additional gear and I am budgeting for about $800 in miscellaneous expenses such as travel and food. The money that you give through Kickstarter will cover my equipment, travel and editing expenses and will enable me to produce this documentary so that Heather's work can be seen and inspire everyone!
