In LIVING PLANET, explore a new Planet, exploit its resources and trade them. But, beware of cataclysms, the Planet might be ... living!
In this 2-4 players strategy game by Christophe Boelinger, you won’t be able to win without taking risks. As the game progresses, and resources are becoming scarce, you will discover that the planet defends itself against invaders, whoever they are...
As soon as Christophe showed us the game, we immediately thought making a "Deluxe" edition. The gameplay and the background are so immersive, we could only offer you something special.
Thanks to Kickstarter, we are happy to offer Living Planet, dressed in an incredible dark black finish Deluxe case. Perfect to be proudly showcased on your shelves and gaming tables!
7 drawers will optimize the storage of the numerous LIVING PLANET's gaming components. The top 4 drawers (one per player) will make handling and game setup a pleasure again and allow to start playing quickly.
To ease gaming components placement and a good stability and to provide an optimal immersion, we worked with our manufacturer to provide you nothing but the best with high quality materials. No more dice or resources sliding off the board. Let's just focus on the game!
Deluxe edition backers will be able to extend their games as they think best! With this Stretch Goal, two turn tracks are provided (double layered punchboard of course), with two extra resources of each kind, to deal with longer games. Let’s start a Living Planet marathon!!
With the 5th scenario, we are unlocking as well a full campaign booklet. The 5 scenarios are playable individually or linked into a campaign mode if you like to. Higly recommended :)
When you make your Recycling Factory produce (the production die value matches your Recycling Factory value), use the die value of another die that would have reached previously the Cataclysms line, instead of the actual die triggering productions. The new die can be used for the current production phase and only for the Recycling Factory owner.
At the first player production phase, no Recycling Factory can be activated because there is not any die that already reached the Cataclysms line...
Spaceports are import-export places. Like industrial grade airports, receiving huge cargo spaceships, ready to embark tones of extracted resources. Each spaceport is linked to a resource kind. During a Trade Action, if you control a spaceport, you’ll be allowed to buy or sell twice as much of that same resource as you are usually allowed by your die value (X).
The Technical Unit allows you to repair your Vehicles. Earlier, when a cataclysm happens, vehicles are wiped out... Constructing this building, you will be able to repair a vehicle spending an Oil resource.
In Living Planet, each player portrays one major Galactic Corporation exploiting the distant planet MYC.14.250. Each one of them is eager to industrialize the planet and generate as much profit as possible before the planet self-destruct.
At the end of the game each player will earn victory points based on how much money they earned and how many buildings and vehicles they control.
Each player is given a 6-card set at the beginning of the game, each one of them is numbered from 1 to 6. Each card set matches the player’s color.
At each turn, players will simultaneously play one card, discarding it. This way, played cards will not be available before being retrieved. So, each player, at each turn, would have virtually played a numbered die of their own color...
One after the other, each player takes the “Leader Board” (as a game lasts 12 turns, each player will have the Leader Board as many times as the other – 12 being a multiple of 2, 3 and 4, if you have not a math brain). With this Leader Board (see below) the Leader player chooses in which order he places the players’ colored dice. This order is crucial. It is the turn order in which players will make their actions.
So, Each player will produce resources, will have 2 actions to perform and may trigger cataclysms. How is all this working?
A player's turn follows this sequence (numbered dice placed in the order the Leader would have chosen) :
- Productions: every factory building matching the die number will produce its own resource (your own factory buildings and opponent's ones as well)
- 2x Actions: each player will have two actions to perform. The subtlety is that almost every actions will be modulated by the value of the player's die!
- Cataclysms: at the end of a player's turn, cataclysms are triggered wherever the matching die is shown on a tile. Careful! Value AND color count! Then the whole hexagon tile suffers the described cataclysm…
A main point is the each player's die will affect every players, resources productions, and cataclysms triggered on the map! The Leader player will have the power to choose the order those events will occur…
Moreover, players' actions will be modulated according to the die value they would have chosen:
Finally, let's talk about the resources’ value of resources. You may face fluctuating value of the resources, depending on demand and trading.
And be also careful, any shortage or excessive price (exceeding 10) will result in a Stock Market crash!
The game lasts 12 turns. At the end of each turn, the Leader has to choose one resource among Iron, Oil, or Vibranium. As the game progresses, resources will start to become scarce...
Will you play finely enough to line your pockets?
The player with the most Victory Points (VPs) at the end of the game is the winner!
- Each factory Building brings 2 VP
- Each Vehicle brings 1 VP
- Every 5 pieces bring 1 VP
Please note this Rulebook is only a WIP version. After the campaign end, rules will be proofread by a native english speaker to provide a professional grade translation.

The story so far…
The year is 2755 of the new galactic calendar. Even though the Humanity has pushed the boundaries of known space to astonishing limits, it is still running for its survival, barely avoiding extinction. Until the discovery of MYC.14.250…
Although this planet cannot host human life, it is loaded with vital resources for humanity. One of them, the Mycelium, first discovered on this planet, is a giant mushroom growing close to acid geysers. Its composition contains all necessary nutrients and vitamins as well as many components with medicinal properties. Mycelium rapidly became the most valuable resource in the universe.
Unfortunately MYC.14.250 Doesn’t only hold good surprises… Violent storms and dangerous earthquakes often ravage the planet. And you also have to confront the geysers in order to extract the mushrooms. But moreover, the scientists and engineers working on the installations noticed that the more they were stripping the planet from its resources the more cataclysms occurred.
The rumor that the planet could be alive starts to spread…
To add an add-on to your Kickstarter pledge :
Follow these steps: - Press the “Manage your pledge button” (if you have not pledged yet, it will say Back this Project.) - Increase your pledge in the Pledge Amount box by the total of the add-ons you want to add. - Do not change the tier you are currently pledged at, unless you also want to change it while you are on this screen. You will then need to add the total of your add-ons onto the amount of the new tier you chose.
After the end of the Kickstarter campaign you will receive a survey that will ask you questions so that you can explain how you would like the add-on money assigned.

The USA, European Union and Canada are “Shipping Friendly”. This means that backers from these countries will not incur any import taxes.
If you want to pledge for more than one pledge (either to make a better present than a beautiful axe or to lower the shipping cost making a group pledge with your bearded friends), simply add to your pledge the proper amount. Add for as many Standard Edition pledge (49€) or Deluxe Edition pledge (69€) as you want. Lowered shipping costs will be recalculated after the campaign depending on your final pledge content. And of course, every box will come with all the applicable stretch-goals!
Shipping will be charged after the campaign ends, during the “Pledge Manager” phase. You'll find below an estimation shipping costs range depending on your location.
The exact shipping costs will vary depending on your location but also on the final weight of the game after all StretchGoals have been unlocked. That's why we can only give you a price range for each location.
Be aware that all pledges that are confirmed after the pledge manager deadline will be shipped from our main hub at a later date, that will likely cause increased shipping costs. We are sorry to inform you that we are unable to ship to PO Boxes.
Yes, why using kickstarter?
First, we launched two games this year, directly in stores: ARBORIA and KARMAKA. It is essential for us to promote the store channel as these people makes the games live and will always do. However, our small structure does not allow us to publish as many games as we would... Living Planet includes a lot of component and it became inevitable for us to finance its production through Kickstarter.
Secondly, for the same reasons, producing a Deluxe edition is only possible through Kickstarter.
Chris started designing games at the age of 7. Playing and designing games has always been part of his life. He likes to play all kinds of games. From miniature games to euro games, CCG, role playing games, party games, wargames, just about anything that can be played. He won the Paris game designer contest two years in a row in 1998 and 1999, which opens the doors to the publishers to him.
Today more than 50 of his games have been published worldwide, the most renown being Dungeon Twister, Archipelago, Earth Reborn, Difference…
Living Planet is one of his latest projects that holds a special place in his heart. Big fan of science fiction he imagined a planet full of resources that would fight back its oppressors the more they would strip the planet out of its resources. A game where the players would be almost more scared by the planet than by their opponent players.
The creation of the LUMBERJACKS [Studio] is the outcome of the association of Antoine ROFFÉ (ex Skulls Mini) and Cécil HIS-MAHIER. Both shaped for the past 30 years by the constant gaming evolution, they attempt to bring their contribution in the flourishing world of game publishing.
Bertrand Benoit : designer, illustrator, concept-artist, colorist, he has worked in many sectors of activity such as video games (Ubisoft), miniature games (helldorado, alkemy, etc...), boardgames (Ryu, Gosu, Arboria) or the comic strip. At Éditions Soleil, he published Brocéliande T1, Oracle T2, The Chroniques d'Arawn T2 and produced many album covers.
Risks and challenges
This is our second Kickstarter campaign. Despite the difficulties encountered during our first one (Gob'z'heroes), we delivered the rewards with only a little delay. We also have launched two games directly in stores since.
For this campaign, the Standard edition is almost finalized and will be ready to be produced by the end of the campaign. Every stretch goals and additional purchases are already well advanced.
THE ZERO RISK DOES NOT EXIST, BUT WE BEGIN TO HAVE NOW SOME EXPERIENCE.
Despite making sure that the game is ready to be launched, and having chosen our partners wisely (printer, logisticians, etc.), we unfortunately cannot prevent us against axe rains, invasions of zombie lumberjacks or other kind of Armageddon... This could delay the delivery schedule, but rest assured that if this were going to happen we would keep you informed of such a situation.
All pledges can be refunded up to 60 days before the production shipping from the manufacturer, without any question asked.
If a refund is requested more than 15 days after the end of the Kickstarter campaign, our Kickstarter fees will be deducted from your refund.
